ARBON, Switzerland, July 21. ANTIONE Galavtine of France won both the 100 free and 50 fly at the Swiss Open Championships held in Arbon, Switzerland.<\/p>\n
The meet, which also serves as a Swiss national championship with the top Swiss national in each race taking the Swiss title, is taking place in long course meter format from July 20-22.<\/p>\n
Men's 100 freestyle<\/b>
\nFrance's Antoine Galavtine won the men's two-lap event in 50.56, while Israel's Shai Livnat touched second in 50.87. Poland's Kajetan Zaluski placed third in 52.01, while Adrien Perez won the Swiss title with a fourth-place 52.34.<\/p>\n
Women's 400 freestyle<\/b>
\nSwiss Olympian Flavia Rigamonti won both the open and the Swiss title with a top time of 4:14.18 to dominate the field. France's Ophelie Cyriell Etienne (4:18.04) and Madeleine Diguet (4:19.98) closed out the top three with second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n
Men's 50 breaststroke<\/b>
\nIsrael's Michael Malul, who reportedly is transferring to Georgia Tech from Kentucky this year, won the men's 50 breast in a meet-record time of 28.60. He beat Olympian Emil Tahirovic of Slovenia, who took second in 28.83, while Tahirovic's teammate Matjaz Markic finished third in 28.89.<\/p>\n
Rene Kolonko grabbed the Swiss title with a fifth-place effort of 29.83.<\/p>\n
Women's 50 breaststroke<\/b>
\nCeline Baillod gave the Swiss another open title with a time of 33.71 as the Swiss actually went 1-2-3 in the event. Claudia Bellasi touched second in 34.97, while Tamaris Lottaz finished third in 35.70.<\/p>\n
Diane Moullet set a national junior record with a time of 36.70 to place fifth.<\/p>\n
Men's 100 backstroke<\/b>
\nPoland's Tomasz Rumianowski beat a pair of Israeli swimmers in the men's 100 back to add the title to his 200 back win from yesterday. He stopped the clock in 57.26, while Ehud Segal (58.24) and Guy Barnea (58.33) wound up second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n
Luka Gabrilo garnered the Swiss national title with a fourth-place 58.86.<\/p>\n
Women's 100 backstroke<\/b>
\nBelarus' Aleksandra Herasimenia, who at one point owned a tied world record in the 50 back before FINA decided not to ratify the 28.19 effort, touched out Israel's Anna Gostomelsky, 1:03.33 to 1:03.37, for the open title. Martina Van Berkel snagged the Swiss title and completed the podium with a third-place 1:07.01.<\/p>\n
Men's 50 butterfly<\/b>
\nFrance's Antoine Galavtine earned his second title of the day with a 24.83 in the men's one-lap fly. He edged hometown swimmer Damien Courtois, who took the Swiss title with a second-place 24.97. France's Clement Lefert picked up third place with a time of 25.03.<\/p>\n
Women's 50 butterfly<\/b>
\nIsrael's Amit Ivri, who represented her country at the World Championships in Melbourne, won the race in 27.39. France's Audrey Parra picked up second in 28.09 in front of compatriot Lise Soule's third-place 28.93.<\/p>\n
Martina Van Berkel claimed her second straight Swiss title with a sixth-place time of 29.52.<\/p>\n
Men's 200 IM<\/b>
\nFrance's Kevin Trannoy touched first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:07.16, while Israel's Gal Nevo placed second in 2:09.96. France's Jeremy Peter rounded out the top three in 2:10.60, while Stefan Sigrist captured the Swiss title with a fifth-place 2:12.99.<\/p>\n
Women's 200 IM<\/b>
\nPoland's Anna Kowalczyk grabbed a nearly two-second triumph over France's Ophelie Cyriell Etienne, 2:20.46 to 2:22.29, in the women's 200 IM, while Celine Baillod earned another Swiss title with a third-place 2:23.72.<\/p>\n
Men's 1500 freestyle<\/b>
\nFrance's Romain Beraud won the open title with a time of 16:02.38, while Joel Escher took home the Swiss title with a second-place 16:23.95. Julien Baillod, also of Switzerland, placed third in 16:33.22.<\/p>\n
Relays<\/b>
