Hit refresh for the latest coverage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 100 back finals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Romania&#8217;s <strong>Robert Glinta<\/strong> took down his meet record in the men&#8217;s 100-meter back finals for the win at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Glinta raced his way to victory in a time of 54.30, clipping his semifinal swim of 54.56 from yesterday as the meet mark.<\/p>\n<p>That time moved Glinta closer to <strong>Apostolos Christou&#8217;s<\/strong> World Junior record of 54.03 set back in 2014 for Greece.<\/p>\n<p>The swim moved Glinta into fourth among 18-and-unders this year according to USA Swimming Stats.<\/p>\n<p><strong>18-And-Under World Rankings According to USA Swimming Stats<\/strong><\/p>\n[table \u201c\u201d not found \/]<br \/>\n\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Michael Taylor<\/strong> hit the wall second in a time of 54.64, while Great Britain&#8217;s <strong>Luke Greenbank<\/strong> took bronze in a time of 54.81.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong>, taking on a heavy schedule tonight, would up taking fourth in 54.88.<\/p>\n<p>Spain&#8217;s <strong>Hugo Gonzalez<\/strong> (55.04), Canada&#8217;s <strong>Markus Thormeyer<\/strong> (55.11), Egypt&#8217;s<strong> Youssef Abdalla<\/strong> (55.24) and Canada&#8217;s <strong>Javier Acevedo<\/strong> (55.48) rounded out the championship heat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 200 fly finals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s <strong>Wang Siqi<\/strong> downed Australia&#8217;s <strong>Tamsin Cook<\/strong> in a close contest for the women&#8217;s 200-meter fly at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Although the times weren&#8217;t near the fastest by teenagers in the world this year led by <strong>Zhang Yufei&#8217;s<\/strong> 2:06.51 and <strong>Katie McLaughlin&#8217;s<\/strong> 2:06.95 from the World Championships, Wang\u00a0still managed to grab the junior title with a time of 2:08.24.<\/p>\n<p>Cook, meanwhile, built on her strong relay swim from night one with a 2:08.86 to take silver in the finale.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Hannah Kukurugya<\/strong> touched out teammate <strong>Cassidy Bayer<\/strong>, 2:10.08 to 2:10.12, for bronze. \u00a0Bayer had entered the meet with the fastest time of those in the meet with a 2:08.03 from U.S. Nationals in San Antonio. \u00a0But, she was unable to replicate that time during finals.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s <strong>Haruno Ito<\/strong> (2:11.07), Spain&#8217;s <strong>Carmen Balbuena<\/strong> (2:11.31), Great Britain&#8217;s <strong>Holly Hibbott<\/strong> (2:11.63) and Hungary&#8217;s <strong>Boglarka Bonecz<\/strong> (2:12.11) closed out the rest of the finale.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 200 free finals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Maxime Rooney<\/strong> led a USA 1-2 in the men&#8217;s 200-meter free finals at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Rooney raced his way to a winning time of 1:47.78. \u00a0That&#8217;s not fast off his World Junior Record of 1:47.10 set during U.S. Nationals earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Grant Shoults<\/strong> raced his way into a silver with a time of 1:48.42 as he moved to fourth among 18-and-unders this year.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Ernest Maksumov<\/strong> took bronze tonight with a third-place time of 1:48.68.<\/p>\n<p><strong>18-And-Under World Rankings According to USA Swimming Stats<\/strong><\/p>\n[table \u201c\u201d not found \/]<br \/>\n\n<p>Australia&#8217;s <strong>Damian Fyfe<\/strong> (1:48.90), Russia&#8217;s<strong> Elisei Stepanov<\/strong> (1:49.18), Great Britain&#8217;s <strong>Cameron Kurle<\/strong> (1:49.28), Brazil&#8217;s <strong>Felipe Souza<\/strong> (1:50.17) and Tunisia&#8217;s <strong>Mohamed Mehdi Lagili<\/strong> (1:52.00) finished fourth through eighth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 50 breast finals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Turkey&#8217;s <strong>Viktoria Zeynep Gunes<\/strong> dominated the women&#8217;s 50-meter breast en route to a win at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Gunes, who already put up a sixth-ranked 30.55 yesterday, continued to be the only consistent performer under 31 seconds as she charged to victory tonight in 30.78.<\/p>\n<p>That time along would have ranked her among the top 15 in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Sweden&#8217;s <strong>Sophie Hansson<\/strong> took silver with a time of 31.18, while Great Britain&#8217;s<strong> Katie Matts<\/strong> wound up third overall in 31.66.<\/p>\n<p>USA just missed the podium as<strong> Kennedy Lohman<\/strong> (31.78) and <strong>Nikol Popov<\/strong> (31.88) finished fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s<strong> Mariia Astashkina<\/strong> (31.92), Japan&#8217;s<strong> Yukino Miyasaka<\/strong> (31.95) and Australia&#8217;s <strong>Ella Bond<\/strong> (31.98) placed sixth through eighth to comprise the rest of the finale.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 100 fly semis<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Daniil Pakhomov<\/strong> lowered the meet record in the men&#8217;s 100-meter fly semis at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Pakhomov managed to put up a strong time of 52.40 to win semifinal two and break <strong>Daniel Bell&#8217;s<\/strong> 2008 meet record of 52.52 set for New Zealand in Monterrey, Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>Pakhomov already was third in the 18-and-under world rankings this year according to USA Swimming Stats, with his 52.13 from the European Junior Championships in Baku.<\/p>\n<p><strong>18-And-Under World Rankings According to USA Swimming Stats<\/strong><\/p>\n[table \u201c\u201d not found \/]<br \/>\n\n<p>The second-seeded swimmer coming into the meet, <strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> of the U.S. with a 52.57 from the 2015 Junior Nationals, wound up missing out on finals altogether with a ninth-place time of 53.72.<\/p>\n<p>Brazil&#8217;s <strong>Vinicius Lanza<\/strong> qualified second in 52.81 with USA&#8217;s<strong> Ryan Hoffer<\/strong> racing his way to the third seed in 52.89.<\/p>\n<p>Spain&#8217;s <strong>Alberto Lozano<\/strong> (52.99), Poland&#8217;s <strong>Michal Chudy<\/strong> (53.38), Russia&#8217;s<strong> Daniil Antipov<\/strong> (53.45), Brazil&#8217;s <strong>Henrique Painhas<\/strong> (53.52) and Italy&#8217;s <strong>Giacomo Carini<\/strong> (53.68) closed out the rest of the championship field.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 100 free semis<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s <strong>Taylor Ruck<\/strong> paced a Canadian 1-2 finish in the women&#8217;s 100-meter free semis at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Ruck, who set the meet record with a 53.95 during prelims to challenge the World Junior record of 53.84 set by <strong>Shen Duo<\/strong> at last summer&#8217;s Youth Olympic Games, cruised into finals with a top time of 54.14.<\/p>\n<p>Ruck&#8217;s teammate, <strong>Penny Oleksiak<\/strong>, turned in a second-seeded time of 54.51 to give the Canadians a strong 1-2 punch in the finale.<\/p>\n<p><strong>18-And-Under World Rankings According to USA Swimming Stats<\/strong><\/p>\n[table \u201c\u201d not found \/]<br \/>\n\n<p>Japan&#8217;s <strong>Rikako Ikee<\/strong> qualified third overall in 54.81 as the only other sub-55 time of the night.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s<strong> Arina Openysheva<\/strong> (55.05), Australia&#8217;s<strong> Shayna Jack<\/strong> (55.21), Australia&#8217;s <strong>Lucy Elizabeth McJannett<\/strong> (55.42), Japan&#8217;s <strong>Sachi Mochida<\/strong> (55.42) and USA&#8217;s <strong>Stanzi Moseley<\/strong> (55.48) also made their way into the championship heat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 100 breast finals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Anton Chupkov<\/strong> powered his way to victory in a World Junior record time in the men&#8217;s 100-meter breast at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Chupkov, who set the World Junior record with a 1:00.12 during prelims yesterday, raced his way to the top of the podium tonight in 1:00.19.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Reece Whitley<\/strong> turned in a second-place time of 1:01.00 as he was unable to keep up the pace Chupkov had ahead of him.<\/p>\n<p>Lithuania&#8217;s <strong>Andrius Sidlauskas<\/strong> rounded out the podium with a third-place time of 1:01.26.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong>, swimming a Katinka Hosszu-like schedule tonight, could not handle the top three swimmers as he faded off the podium with a fourth-place time of 1:01.52.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew entered the meet just behind Chupkov in terms of seeds, 1:00.65 to 1:00.68, but took on such a daunting schedule he was unable to compete in the finale tonight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>18-And-Under World Rankings According to USA Swimming Stats<\/strong><\/p>\n[table \u201c\u201d not found \/]<br \/>\n\n<p>Great Britain&#8217;s <strong>Charlie Attwood<\/strong> tied Australia&#8217;s<strong> Matthew Wilson<\/strong> for fifth with matching 1:01.69s.<\/p>\n<p>Italy&#8217;s <strong>Nicolo Martinenghi<\/strong> (1:02.08) and Belgium&#8217;s <strong>Basten Caerts<\/strong> (1:02.37) closed out the finale.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 100 back finals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s <strong>Minna Atherton<\/strong> tied the World Junior record in the women&#8217;s 100-meter back as she crushed the meet record during finals at the 2015 FINA World Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Atherton raced her way to a 59.58 for the win, tying <strong>Claire Adams&#8217;<\/strong> World Junior mark of 59.58 set at the U.S. Nationals earlier this month in San Antonio.<\/p>\n<p>That time also destroyed Atherton&#8217;s meet record of 59.83 set yesterday as she continued to dominate the event.<\/p>\n<p>Adams could not summon the same speed as she had in San Antonio as she settled for silver with a time of 1:00.19.<\/p>\n<p><strong>18-And-Under World Rankings According to USA Swimming Stats<\/strong><\/p>\n[table \u201c\u201d not found \/]<br \/>\n\n<p>New Zealand&#8217;s <strong>Bobbi Gichard<\/strong> earned bronze with a time of 1:00.42.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s <strong>Danielle Hanus<\/strong> (1:00.44), Russia&#8217;s <strong>Irina Prikhodko<\/strong> (1:00.64), Canada&#8217;s <strong>Taylor Ruck<\/strong> (1:00.70), New Zealand&#8217;s<strong> Gabrielle Fa&#8217;Amausili<\/strong> (1:00.74) and USA&#8217;s <strong>Grace Ariola<\/strong> (1:01.10) also competed in the finale.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 200 IM finals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s <strong>Clyde Lewis<\/strong> captured the men&#8217;s 200-meter IM at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Lewis turned in a top time of 2:00.15 as no one else could even come closer than a second in the finale.<\/p>\n<p>Spain&#8217;s <strong>Hugo Gonzalez<\/strong> initially looked to have placed second in 2:01.88, but drew a disqualification in the event.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary&#8217;s<strong> Daniel Sos<\/strong> wound up second officially with a time of 2:01.78, while USA&#8217;s <strong>Sean Grieshop<\/strong> slid up to bronze with a third-place time of 2:01.83.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s <strong>Javier Acevedo<\/strong> (2:01.91), Russia&#8217;s <strong>Nikolai Sokolov<\/strong> (2:02.98) and Great Britain&#8217;s <strong>Martyn Walton<\/strong> (2:03.11) finished fourth through seventh.<\/p>\n<p>In his fourth final of the night, USA&#8217;s <strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> finished last in 2:06.54 as the workload obviously took a lot out of him. \u00a0Andrew led the way in prelims with a top-seeded time of 1:59.86 that also was the top time by an 18-and-under this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>18-And-Under World Rankings According to USA Swimming Stats<\/strong><\/p>\n[table \u201c\u201d not found \/]<br \/>\n\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 800 free finals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Sierra Schmidt<\/strong> demolished the meet record in the women&#8217;s 800-meter free at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Schmidt, known as the Dancing Queen since she dances the entire time she is at the starting blocks being announced, went out fast and never looked back as she blasted the meet record with an 8:27.55.<\/p>\n<p>That swim crushed the meet record of 8:32.30 set by<strong> Bonnie MacDonald<\/strong> of Australia back in 2011. \u00a0Schmidt just missed her season best of 8:27.54 from the Pan American Games.<\/p>\n<p>Italy&#8217;s <strong>Simona Quadarella<\/strong> turned in a second-place time of 8:29.79, while Great Britain&#8217;s <strong>Holly Hibbott<\/strong> earned third-place honors in 8:31.56. \u00a0All three under the previous meet record.<\/p>\n<p><strong>18-And-Under World Rankings According to USA Swimming Stats<\/strong><\/p>\n[table \u201c\u201d not found \/]<br \/>\n\n<p>Italy&#8217;s <strong>Linda Caponi<\/strong> (8:35.21), USA&#8217;s <strong>Gabrielle Kopenski<\/strong> (8:38.72), Hungary&#8217;s <strong>Janka Juhasz<\/strong> (8:40.07), China&#8217;s <strong>Dong Fuwei<\/strong> (8:41.85) and Spain&#8217;s<strong> Laura Rodriguez<\/strong> (8:44.00) rounded out the top eight in the timed final event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mixed 400 medley relay finals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Russia smashed the World Junior and meet record in the mixed 400-meter medley relay at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Irina Prikhodko, Anton Chupkov, Daniil Pakohomov<\/strong> and <strong>Arina Openysheva<\/strong> won the finale in 3:45.85. \u00a0That swim blasted the previous World Junior record of 3:48.89 that also stood as the meet record since 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s <strong>Minna Atherton, Matthew Wilson, Lucia Lassman<\/strong> and <strong>Kyle Chalmer<\/strong> finished second in 3:48.27.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Michael Taylor, Michael Andrew, Cassidy Bayer<\/strong> and <strong>Stanzi Mosely<\/strong> snared bronze in 3:50.24.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_152133\"
