Event Schedule:<\/strong><\/p>\n MEN’S 400 FREE<\/strong><\/p>\n The top four finishers for tonight’s 400-meter free all finished within .83 seconds of one another, leaving the field wide open for who will claim the title.\u00a0Qui Ziao<\/strong> of China leads the field going into tonight’s finals with a qualifying time of 3:51.10. Teammate\u00a0Yang Jintong<\/strong>\u00a0finished close behind with a 3:51.27 to claim the second-place seed.<\/p>\n Grant Shoults<\/strong> of the USA finished third overall with a time of 3:51.48.<\/p>\n Australia’s\u00a0Joshua Parish<\/strong> claimed the fourth-place seed with a time of 3:51.93. All four men are less than five seconds off of the Championship Record of 3:47.12 set by Mack Horton in 2013.<\/p>\n Ricardo Vargas<\/strong> of Mexico turned in a 3:53.53 in heat six to top\u00a0Matthew Hirschberger<\/strong> of the USA’s time of 3:53.59 from heat seven.<\/p>\n Great Britain’s\u00a0Cameron Kurle\u00a0<\/strong>finished seventh overall with a time of 3:54.10, while Venezuela’s\u00a0Rafael Davila<\/strong> rounds out the top eight with a 3:54.39.<\/p>\n WOMEN’S 50 BREAST<\/strong><\/p>\n Turkey’s Viktoria Zeynep Gunes\u00a0<\/b>leads the competition in the women’s 50-meter breaststroke going into tonight’s semi-finals. Gunes posted a time of 30.73 to make her the only competitor to go under the 31-second mark in prelims.<\/p>\n Great Britain’s\u00a0Katie Matts<\/strong>\u00a0and Sweden’s\u00a0Sophie Hansson<\/strong> are tied for second going into tonight’s semi-finals after both posted a 31.48.<\/p>\n Nikol Popov<\/strong> of the USA claimed the third-place seed with a 31.69, while Japan’s\u00a0Yukino Miyasaka\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed a close fifth with a 31.76.<\/p>\n Kennedy Lohman<\/strong> of the USA will join teammate Popov after posting a 32.00. Australia’s\u00a0Ella Bond<\/strong> grabbed seventh with a 32.15, while Russia’s\u00a0Mariia Astashkina<\/strong>\u00a0and Hungary’s Szonja\u00a0Szokol\u00a0<\/strong>tied for eighth with a 32.40.<\/p>\n Japan’s\u00a0Runa Imai<\/strong> (32.42), Slovenia’s\u00a0Tina Celik\u00a0<\/strong>(32.51), Germany’s\u00a0Laura Kelsch<\/strong> (32.53), Russia’s\u00a0Daria Chikunova<\/strong> (32.56), Italy’s\u00a0Giulia Verona<\/strong> (32.66), Slovakia’s\u00a0Andrea Podmanikova\u00a0<\/strong>(32.66), and Australia’s\u00a0Calypso Sheridan<\/strong> (32.73) round out the top sixteen.<\/p>\n MEN’S 100 BACK<\/strong><\/p>\n The men’s 100-meter back has already proved to be an exciting race with the Championship Record being broken twice during prelims.\u00a0Hugo Gonzalez\u00a0<\/strong>of Spain originally broke the record of 54.87 set by Christou Apostolos\u00a0<\/strong>in 2013 when he turned in 54.80 in heat five. Not two heats later\u00a0Michael Taylor<\/strong> of the USA clocked a 54.74 to claim the record for himself and earn the top seed going into tonight’s semi-finals.<\/p>\n Michael Andrew<\/strong> of the USA posted a 54.90 to earn himself a spot in the middle of the pool at third.<\/p>\n Canada’s\u00a0Markus Thormeyer<\/strong> and Romania’s\u00a0Robert Glinta<\/strong> turned in close times, finishing only .04 seconds apart in heat five. Thormeyer managed to get his hand to the wall first with a final time of 55.12 over Glinta’s 55.16.<\/p>\n Clyde Lewis<\/strong> of Australia and\u00a0Abdalla Youssef<\/strong> of Egypt also posted close times from heat six finishing only .02 seconds apart. Lewis clocked a 55.36, while Youssef finished with a 55.38.<\/p>\n Great Britain’s\u00a0Luke\u00a0<\/strong>Greenback\u00a0<\/b>rounds out the top eight with a 55.54.<\/p>\n Canada’s\u00a0Javier Acevedo<\/strong> (55.68), New Zealand’s\u00a0Willrich\u00a0Coetzee<\/b> (55.84), Greece’s\u00a0Nikolaos Sofianidis<\/strong> (55.92), Brazil’s\u00a0Guilherme Basseto<\/strong> (55.93), Ireland’s\u00a0Conor Ferguson<\/strong> (55.94), Portugal’s\u00a0Gabriel Lopes<\/strong> (56.05), Russia’s\u00a0Roman Larin<\/strong> (56.07), and the Czech Republic’s\u00a0Tomas Franta<\/strong> (56.13) finish up the qualifiers for tonight’s semi-finals.<\/p>\n WOMEN’S 400 INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY<\/strong><\/p>\n Georgia Coates<\/strong> of Great Britain leads the women going into tonight’s finals of the 400-meter IM with a time of 4:42.19, only 2.17 seconds off the meet record of 4:40.02 set by Ella Eastin<\/strong> in 2013.<\/p>\n Spain’s\u00a0Africa\u00a0Zamorano\u00a0<\/strong>claimed the second-place seed going into tonight’s finals with a time of 4:43.21.\u00a0Brooke Forde<\/strong> of the USA was close behind in Zamorano in heat five with a finishing time of 4:43.96. Both Zamorano and Coates’ times earned them spots in the Top 25 World Rankings for 18 & unders.<\/p>\n Great Britain’s\u00a0Rosie Rudin<\/strong> posted a 4:44.14 from heat five to claim the fourth-place seed for tonight’s finals, while Japan’s\u00a0Hiroko Makino<\/strong> is seeded a close fifth with a time of 4:44.58.<\/p>\n Italy’s\u00a0Ilaria Cusinato<\/strong> grabbed sixth from heat five with a time of 4:46.10. Serbia’s\u00a0Anja Crevar<\/strong>\u00a0took seventh overall with a 4:46.23, while\u00a0Savanna\u00a0<\/strong>Faulconer<\/b> of the USA rounded out the top eight with a 4:47.01.<\/p>\n MEN’S 100 BREAST<\/strong><\/p>\n Anton Chupkov<\/strong> of Russia succeeded in lowering his own World Junior record and setting a new Championship Record in the men’s 100-meter breaststroke during prelims after posting a time of 1:00.12 This replaces his World Junior record of 1:00.84 from 2014, as well as,\u00a0Ilya Khomenko’s\u00a0<\/strong>meet record of 1:00.88 from 2013.<\/p>\n Reece Whitley<\/strong> of the USA claimed the second-place seed with a time of 1:01.48, adding slightly to his time of 1:01.06 that he posted earlier this summer at the US National Championships. Teammate\u00a0Michael Andrew<\/strong> joins him at third with a qualifying time of 1:01.54.<\/p>\n Australia’s\u00a0Matthew Wilson<\/strong> was a close fourth, turning in a time of 1:01.55 from heat seven.<\/p>\n Italy’s\u00a0Nicolo Martinenghi<\/strong> finished fifth overall in prelims with a qualifying time of 1:01.90, making him the last qualifier under the 1:02 mark.<\/p>\n Charlie Attwood<\/strong> of Great Britain turned in a 1:02.06 to earn the sixth-place seed, while Australia’s\u00a0Grayson Bell<\/strong> finished seventh overall with a time of 1:02.33. Lithuania’s\u00a0Andrius Sidlauskas<\/strong> joins them in the top eight with a time of 1:02.40.<\/p>\n Japan’s\u00a0Ippei Miyamoto\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.77), China’s\u00a0Shen Hao<\/strong> (1:02.92), Russia’s\u00a0Egor Suchkov<\/strong> (1:03.00), China’s\u00a0Liu Yunsong<\/strong> (1:03.03), Belgium’s\u00a0Basten Caerts<\/strong> (1:03.05), Poland’s\u00a0Jacek Arentewicz<\/strong> (1:03.10), Austria’s\u00a0Christopher Rothbauer<\/strong> (1:03.30), and Canada’s\u00a0Warren Mayer<\/strong> (1:03.55) round out the top sixteen finishers.<\/p>\n WOMEN’S 100 BACK<\/strong><\/p>\n Minna Atherton<\/strong> of Australia became the fourth person during prelims of day one to set a new meet record, claiming the 100-meter back with a time of 59.83. Atherton’s time replaces\u00a0Daryna Zevina’s\u00a0<\/strong>time of 1:00.59 from 2011 and also lowers\u00a0Daria\u00a0Ustinov’s\u00a0<\/strong>World Junior record of 1:00.25 from 2014.<\/p>\n Claire Adams<\/strong> of the USA grabbed the second-place seed with a time of 1:00.46, adding to her time of 59.58 from US National Championships earlier this summer in San Antonio.<\/p>\n Canada’s\u00a0Danielle Hanus\u00a0<\/strong>claimed the third-place seed with a time of 1:00.80, improving upon her time of 1:01.13 from the 2015 Canadian Swimming Trials.<\/p>\n New Zealand teammates\u00a0Gabrielle Fa’Amausili\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Bobbi Gichard<\/strong> grabbed fourth and fifth respectively. Fa’Amausili turned in a 1:00.86, while Gichard posted a time of 1:01.12.<\/p>\n Taylor Ruck<\/strong> of Canada finished sixth in prelims with a time of 1:01.36, adding slightly to her time of 1:01.06 from the 2015 Canadian Swimming Trials.<\/p>\n Russia’s\u00a0Irina Prikhodko<\/strong> grabbed the seventh-place seed with a 1:01.50, while\u00a0Grace Ariola<\/strong> of the USA turned in a time of 1:01.73 for eighth.<\/p>\n The Czech Republic’s Tereza Grusova<\/b> (1:01.87), Russia’s\u00a0Mariia Kameneva<\/strong> (1:01.91), Germany’s\u00a0Laura Riedemann<\/strong> (1:01.94), Australia’s\u00a0Lucy Elizabeth McJannett<\/strong> (1:02.01), Japan’s\u00a0Nasumi Sakai<\/strong> (1:02.29), Ukraine’s Maryna Kolesnykova<\/b> (1:02.59), South Africa’s\u00a0Mariella Venter<\/strong> (1:02.84), and Kazakhstan’s\u00a0Yekaterina Dymchenko<\/strong> (1:03.02) complete the top sixteen qualifiers.<\/p>\n MEN’S 400 FREE RELAY<\/strong><\/p>\n The United States\u00a0relay team of Ryan Hoffer, Daniel Krueger, Michael Jensen<\/strong> and\u00a0Maxime Rooney<\/strong>\u00a0topped the competition in prelims of the men’s 400-meter freestyle relay finishing with a time of 3:17.84. This time puts them only .88 seconds off the meet and\u00a0World Junior record of 3:16.96 set in 2013 by Australia.<\/p>\n\n
