{"id":150619,"date":"2015-08-16T17:55:49","date_gmt":"2015-08-17T00:55:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=150619"},"modified":"2015-08-16T17:57:40","modified_gmt":"2015-08-17T00:57:40","slug":"florida-state-university-swimming-and-diving-releases-competitive-2015-2016-schedule","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/florida-state-university-swimming-and-diving-releases-competitive-2015-2016-schedule\/","title":{"rendered":"Florida State University Swimming and Diving Releases Competitive 2015-2016 Schedule"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Florida State swimming and diving teams released its 2015-16 season schedule <span data-term=\"goog_927330344\">on Wednesday<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI like the way our schedule stacks up this year,\u201d FSU head coach <strong>Frank Bradley<\/strong> said. \u201cIt\u2019s very competitive and I think each meet will give us what we need in order to gear us towards the NCAA Championships.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Seminoles will start the season with a prelim\/final format competition at the All-Florida Invite in Gainesville, Fla. from <span data-term=\"goog_927330345\">Sept. 18-20<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is always a good start to the season,\u201d Bradley said. \u201cIt\u2019s a great indicator of what we have both in and out of the pool. It\u2019s truly the first test and a great introduction to the season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Following the invite, FSU will welcome Minnesota for a dual meet on <span data-term=\"goog_927330346\">Oct. 3 at 10 a.m.<\/span> It will be the first visit to Tallahassee for the Golden Gophers in program history.\u00a0 The Seminoles will also host Florida Gulf Coast and Florida Southern in a two-day tri-meet on <span data-term=\"goog_927330347\">Nov.6-7<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s great that we could add Minnesota,\u201d Bradley said. \u201cBoth their men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams are solid and their women won the Big Ten title last season on top of taking a few events at NCAA\u2019s. It should be a great meet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>FSU will compete in three other tri-meets on the road this season, first facing Duke and Queens University on <span data-term=\"goog_927330348\">Oct. 23<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Following the season training trip, the Seminoles will compete against FIU and Indian River State College on <span data-term=\"goog_927330349\">Dec. 15<\/span> before closing out the season in Auburn, Ala. facing both the Tigers and Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of these meet will be great for us,\u201d Bradley said. \u201cThese teams are talented and they\u2019re competitive. I also think that having to go against Auburn and Wisconsin at the end of the year is great timing. It will be an excellent challenge and it will get our kids into that postseason frame of mind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>FSU will also travel to a pair of duals against NC State on <span data-term=\"goog_927330350\">Oct. 24 at 11 a.m.<\/span> and Florida on<span data-term=\"goog_927330351\">Jan. 2<\/span> in Gainesville.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNC State and Florida are also teams in the top 10,\u201d Bradley said. \u201cNC State is loaded after winning the ACC last season and Florida is always tough. Both should be tough tests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Florida State will send members of the women\u2019s team to the SMU Classic on <span data-term=\"goog_927330352\">Oct. 16-17<\/span> and the entire team will contest in the Georgia Invite on <span data-term=\"goog_927330353\">Dec. 4-6<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth of those meets typically draw very fast teams,\u201d Bradley said. \u201cThe goal is to thrive in the postseason and these meets are loaded with talent and they\u2019ll help us prepare for that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ACC Championships will run from <span data-term=\"goog_927330354\">Feb. 17-20<\/span> and <span data-term=\"goog_927330355\">Feb. 24-27<\/span> with women\u2019s swimming and both men\u2019s and women\u2019s diving scheduled for the first week, followed by men\u2019s swimming on week two. Both meets will be held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n<p>Both women\u2019s and men\u2019s NCAA Championships will be held in Atlanta, Ga. at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center, which was the site of the 1996 Olympic Games.<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s meet will run from <span data-term=\"goog_927330356\">March 17-19<\/span> while the men\u2019s championship will take place from <span data-term=\"goog_927330357\">March 24-26<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving NCAA\u2019s at Georgia Tech could be an advantage for us,\u201d Bradley said. \u201cIt\u2019s close. We\u2019ve competed at that pool in the past a lot and ACC\u2019s were there last year and it\u2019s fast.
