Results<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 100 free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Iron Lady <strong>Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> won her third gold of the meet by taking down a loaded women&#8217;s 100-meter free finale.<\/p>\n<p>Hosszu raced her way to a 54.30 for the win as she touched out <strong>Missy Franklin<\/strong>. \u00a0Franklin claimed second-place honors in 54.34, well off her ninth-ranked season best of 53.68 from Worlds.<\/p>\n<p>Hosszu also won the 100 free on the first stop in Moscow.<\/p>\n<p>France&#8217;s <strong>Charlotte Bonnet<\/strong> collected a big win of her own by touching out <strong>Natalie Coughlin<\/strong>, 54.49 to 54.87, for bronze.<\/p>\n<p>France&#8217;s <strong>Anna Santamans<\/strong> (54.94), <strong>Anouchka Martin<\/strong> (55.42) and <strong>Marie Wattel<\/strong> (55.45) finished fifth through eighth.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s <strong>Yayoi Matsumoto<\/strong> closed out the finale in 56.01.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 200 free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s <strong>Daniel Smith<\/strong> took down the men&#8217;s 200-meter free in a world-ranked time.<\/p>\n<p>Smith clocked a time of 1:46.50 for the win, moving up to 13th in the world rankings in the 200-meter freestyle event.<\/p>\n<p>Smith took fifth in this event last week in Moscow.<\/p>\n<p>South Africa&#8217;s<strong> Myles Brown<\/strong> placed second in 1:47.55, a second off his 20th-ranked 1:46.85, while France&#8217;s<strong> Jeremy Stravius<\/strong> finished third in 1:48.11.<\/p>\n<p>France&#8217;s<strong> Jonathan Atsu<\/strong> (1:49.36), Italy&#8217;s <strong>Nicolangelo Di Fabio<\/strong> (1:49.46), France&#8217;s <strong>Jordan Pothain<\/strong> (1:49.67), Austria&#8217;s <strong>David Brandl<\/strong> (1:50.27) and France&#8217;s<strong> Lorys Bourelly<\/strong> (1:50.55) wound up fourth through eighth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 50 breast<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jamaica&#8217;s <strong>Alia Atkinson<\/strong> touched out USA&#8217;s <strong>Katie Meili<\/strong> for the women&#8217;s 50-meter breast title in France.<\/p>\n<p>Atkinson clocked a time of 30.85 for the win, well off her third-ranked season best of 30.11 from Worlds.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s Atkinson&#8217;s 11th gold medal ever in the women&#8217;s 50-meter breast on the FINA World Cup circuit. \u00a0She last lost this event in 2014 when <strong>Ruta Meilutyte<\/strong> won in Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>Meili, meanwhile, claimed silver in 30.95. \u00a0That&#8217;s a bit off her 10th-ranked 30.76 from Moscow.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Breeja Larson<\/strong> rounded out the top three with a time of 31.06.<\/p>\n<p>Belgium&#8217;s <strong>Fanny Lecluyse<\/strong> (31.23), USA&#8217;s <strong>Melanie Margalis<\/strong> (31.48), Singapore&#8217;s <strong>Roxanne Ho<\/strong> (32.04), Hong Kong&#8217;s<strong> Jamie Yeung<\/strong> (32.82) and Indonesia&#8217;s <strong>Vanessae At Evato<\/strong>\u00a0(34.51) also swam in the final.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 100 breast<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>South Africa&#8217;s<strong> Cameron van der Burgh<\/strong> crushed the field in the men&#8217;s 100-meter breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p>Van der Burgh hit the wall in 58.97, just half-a-second off his second-ranked 58.49 from Worlds.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s Van der Burgh&#8217;s fourth gold medal of the World Cup so far.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Nic Fink<\/strong> placed a distance second in 1:00.00, off his 59.52 from the Moscow stop of the FINA World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Cody Miller<\/strong> took third in 1:00.21, almost a second off his top time of 59.51 from the Santa Clara stop of the Arena Pro Swim Series.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s <strong>Kazuki Kohinata<\/strong> (1:00.45), Russia&#8217;s <strong>Ilya Khomenko<\/strong> (1:00.64), USA&#8217;s <strong>Brendan McHugh<\/strong> (1:00.74), Italy&#8217;s <strong>Fabio Scozzoli<\/strong> (1:01.76) and Paraguay&#8217;s<strong> Renato Prono Fernandez<\/strong> (1:02.38) also competed in the finale.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 100 fly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>South Africa&#8217;s <strong>Chad le Clos<\/strong> put together a scorching time in the men&#8217;s 100-meter fly for the win.<\/p>\n<p>Le Clos, ranked second in the world behind <strong>Michael Phelps<\/strong> with a 50.56 from Worlds, topped the 100 fly tonight in 51.04.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s le Clos&#8217; third gold of the meet as he swept the butterfly events. \u00a0That&#8217;s the sixth time in his FINA World Cup career that le Clos has managed to sweep the butterfly events. \u00a0That&#8217;s a record ahead of <strong>Nikolay Skvortsov&#8217;s<\/strong> four sweeps.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Tom Shields<\/strong> collected a second-place paycheck with a 51.27, just off his fifth-ranked time of 51.03 from Worlds.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Tim Phillips<\/strong> placed third in 52.10, a bit off his 51.75 from Moscow that ranks him 18th in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s <strong>David Morgan<\/strong> (52.74), Australia&#8217;s<strong> Jayden Hadler<\/strong> (52.79), France&#8217;s <strong>Jordan Coelho<\/strong> (53.14), Singapore&#8217;s <strong>Zheng Wen Quah<\/strong> (53.22) and Australia&#8217;s <strong>Tommaso D&#8217;Orsogna<\/strong> (53.28) placed fourth through eighth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 100 back<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s <strong>Emily Seebohm<\/strong> surfaced victorious from one of the most high profile finals of the meet &#8211; the women&#8217;s 100-meter back.<\/p>\n<p>Seebohm raced her way to a sizzling time of 58.91, just a bit off her top-ranked time of 58.26 from Worlds.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s Seebohm&#8217;s ninth career gold medal in World Cup competition.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary&#8217;s <strong>Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> collected another paycheck with a second-place time of 1:00.05. \u00a0She popped a 58.78 to rank third in the world at Worlds.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Missy Franklin<\/strong> raced her way to third in 1:00.47. That&#8217;s a second off her seventh-ranked 59.40 from Worlds.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Daria K. Ustinova<\/strong> (1:00.69), China&#8217;s<strong> Wang Xueer<\/strong> (1:01.42), France&#8217;s<strong> Auriane De Premilhat<\/strong> (1:02.44), Colombia&#8217;s <strong>Carolina Colorado<\/strong> (1:02.57) and Austria&#8217;s <strong>Jordis Steinegger<\/strong> (1:03.19) all finished out of the money.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 50 back<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>France&#8217;s <strong>Camille Lacourt<\/strong>, the top-ranked swimmer in the world in the 50-meter back, cruised to victory in the sprint back tonight in France.<\/p>\n<p>Lacourt clocked a 24.75, half-a-second off his top-ranked 24.23 from Worlds. That&#8217;s his second straight World Cup sweep of the 50 and 100 backstroke events.<\/p>\n<p>Belarus&#8217; <strong>Pavel Sankovich<\/strong> raced his way to second in 25.17, off his 19th-ranked 25.02 from Worlds.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore&#8217;s <strong>Zheng Wen Quah<\/strong> closed out the podium paychecks with a third-place time of 25.22.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s <strong>Josh Beaver<\/strong> (25.33), France&#8217;s <strong>Eddie Moueddene<\/strong> (25.43), France&#8217;s<strong> Thibault Delecluse<\/strong> (25.78), France&#8217;s <strong>Paul-Gabriel Bedel<\/strong> (26.07) and Paraguay&#8217;s <strong>Charles Hockin<\/strong> (26.28) also swam in the finale.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 200 fly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Germany&#8217;s<strong> Franziska Hentke<\/strong>, the top-ranked swimmer in the 200 fly, touched out USA&#8217;s <strong>Cammile Adams<\/strong> for gold in that event here in France.<\/p>\n<p>Hentke powered her way to a 2:06.58 for the win, well off her top-ranked 2:05.26 from the German Open.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s Hentke&#8217;s second gold in the 200 fly ever on the FINA World Cup circuit. She last won gold was 2013 on the Singapore stop.<\/p>\n<p>Adams, meanwhile, placed a close second in 2:06.73. That&#8217;s just half-a-second off her fifth-ranked season best of 2:06.33 from Moscow.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary&#8217;s <strong>Zsuzsanna Jakabos<\/strong> picked up the third-place paycheck with a 2:07.11 to move to 10th in the world rankings.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s<strong> Madeline Groves<\/strong> (2:07.92), Switzerland&#8217;s <strong>Martina Van Berkel<\/strong> (2:09.76), Australia&#8217;s <strong>Brianna Throssell<\/strong> (2:10.14) and France&#8217;s <strong>Elodie Delamare<\/strong> (2:16.44) finished fourth through seventh as only seven swimmers competed in the finale.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 200 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s <strong>Hiromasa Fujimori<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s 200-meter IM with just four swimmers in the finale.<\/p>\n<p>Fujimori clocked a 1:59.39 as the only sub-2:00 swim of the day to earn the top paycheck.<\/p>\n<p>France&#8217;s <strong>Ganesh Pedurand<\/strong> finished second in 2:01.73, while Hungary&#8217;s <strong>David Verraszto<\/strong> collected the third paycheck with a 2:02.92.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s <strong>Jiang Tiansheng<\/strong> was the only swimmer not to get paid to swim the finale with a fourth-place 2:04.20.<\/p>\n<p>FINA might want to look into canceling events with less than at least a full eight swimmers entered and spread the rest of the award money to those who compete against full fields.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 400 free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s<strong> Lindsay Vrooman<\/strong> collected a first-place paycheck from a seven-swimmer field in the women&#8217;s 400-meter free.<\/p>\n<p>Vrooman turned in a top time of 4:07.16 for the win to move to 20th in the world rankings. That was USA&#8217;s first gold of the day after five silvers and four bronzes earlier in the day.<\/p>\n<p>New Zealand&#8217;s <strong>Lauren Boyle<\/strong>, the second-ranked swimmer in the world with a 4:03.88 from Australian Nationals, took second in 4:07.80.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary&#8217;s<strong> Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> kept on piling up the podium points with a third-place time of 4:09.31.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s<strong> Li Bingjie<\/strong> (4:10.54),<strong> Liu Zixuan<\/strong> (4:18.51) and <strong>Zhang Ke<\/strong> (4:20.30) took fourth through sixth.<\/p>\n<p>Austria&#8217;s<strong> Lisa Zaiser<\/strong> wound up seventh in 4:35.69.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 50 free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s <strong>Josh Schneider<\/strong>\u00a0topped the\u00a050-meter freestyle with a superior effort against the field.<\/p>\n<p>He clocked a time of 22.11, off his sixth-ranked 21.80 from Moscow but more than enough for a commanding win tonight.<\/p>\n<p>That is Schneider&#8217;s fourth career gold medal in the 50-meter free on the FINA World Cup circuit. \u00a0He&#8217;s tied with<strong> Anthony Ervin<\/strong> among American men. \u00a0<strong>Jason Lezak<\/strong>, however, leads all swimmers with 17 career wins in the 50-meter free all-time.<\/p>\n<p>France&#8217;s <strong>Clement Mignon<\/strong> placed second in 22.40 with Australia&#8217;s <strong>Tommaso D&#8217;Orsogna<\/strong> tying Nosy Pelagie for third with 22.44s.<\/p>\n<p>Poland&#8217;s <strong>Konrad Czerniak<\/strong> (22.58), France&#8217;s <strong>Yonel Govindin<\/strong> (22.87), Australia&#8217;s <strong>David Morgan<\/strong> (22.88) and France&#8217;s <strong>William Meynard<\/strong> (22.96) closed out the finale.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#8217;s 200 breast<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Vitalina Simonova<\/strong> picked up first-place honors in the women&#8217;s 200-meter breast in France.<\/p>\n<p>Simonova raced her way to a 2:25.26, well off her eighth-ranked 2:22.72 from Worlds but plenty enough for a first-place paycheck tonight.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s Simonova first medal away from Moscow, as she had never competed away from that stop in her career. \u00a0Previously, she won 1 gold, two silvers and two bronzes in Moscow.<\/p>\n<p>USA&#8217;s<strong> Breeja Larson<\/strong> grabbed second-place honors in a time of 2:26.36 with Austria&#8217;s <strong>Lisa Zaiser<\/strong> snaring third in 2:30.16.<\/p>\n<p>France&#8217;s <strong>Camille Dauba<\/strong> (2:30.46), Hong Kong&#8217;s <strong>Jamie Yeung<\/strong> (2:33.80), France&#8217;s <strong>Adeline Martin<\/strong> (2:34.46) and Indonesia&#8217;s <strong>Vanessae At Evato<\/strong> (2:46.05) also competed in the finale.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#8217;s 200 back<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>South Africa&#8217;s <strong>Chad le Clos<\/strong> collected his fourth gold medal of the meet with a win in the men&#8217;s 200-meter back.<\/p>\n<p>Le Clos hit the wall in 1:57.81 to win the finale by nearly a second.
