DURING the third day of long course meter competition at the Bell Grand Prix held in Montreal, Quebec from June 28-July 1, Canadian record holder Matt Hawes claimed the provincial record in the men&#39;s 200 backstroke with a time of 2:00.64, holding off Doug Van Wie, who touched second in 2:00.70. Both swimmers surpassed the 2:01.41 set by Charles Francis earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>In other action, Elizabeth Wycliffe claimed the women&#39;s 200 back in 2:15.52, while Audrey Lacroix, the Canadian record holder in the 100 fly, picked up the win in that event with a 1:00.96.  Adam Sioui earned the men&#39;s 100 fly win title in 54.28 \u2013 touching out Joe Bartoch (54.64) in the process.<\/p>\n<p>In the 200 breaststroke events, Annamay Pierse clocked a 2:31.06 for the women&#39;s crown, while Mathieu Bois, the provincial standard bearer, finished two seconds off his record with a winning time of 2:17.50.<\/p>\n<p>In the splash-and-dash 50 freestyle swims, Laura Pomeroy came out on top for the women in 26.00, while Yannick Lupien, the provincial record holder, touched out Colin Russell (23.72) and Martyn Forde (23.74) in 23.65.<\/p>\n<p>The middle distance freestyle 400s concluded the night with Barbara Jardin nipping Savannah King, 4:15.09 to 4:15.36, for the title.
