{"id":150365,"date":"2015-08-13T11:41:49","date_gmt":"2015-08-13T18:41:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=150365"},"modified":"2015-08-13T11:41:49","modified_gmt":"2015-08-13T18:41:49","slug":"czechs-jan-ziegler-posts-barrier-breaking-world-record-in-90-94-division-at-2015-fina-world-masters-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/czechs-jan-ziegler-posts-barrier-breaking-world-record-in-90-94-division-at-2015-fina-world-masters-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"Czech&#8217;s Jan Ziegler Posts Barrier-Breaking World Record in 90-94 Division at 2015 FINA World Masters Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Czech&#8217;s <strong>Jan Ziegler<\/strong>\u00a0of Plavecky Veteransky Klub became the first man older than 90 years old to clear the 5:00 mark in the men&#8217;s 90-94 200-meter IM at the 2015 FINA World Masters Championships.<\/p>\n<p><strong>World Records<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Czech&#8217;s <strong>Jan Ziegler<\/strong>\u00a0of Plavecky Veteransky Klub became the first man older than 90 years old to clear the 5:00 mark in the men&#8217;s 90-94 200-meter IM with a world record time of 4:51.03. \u00a0He crushed the previous record of <strong>Tokushi Komeda<\/strong>, who clocked a 5:02.64 11 years ago in 2004.<\/p>\n<p>South Africa&#8217;s <strong>Sanderina Kruger<\/strong> of Cape Town MSC downed the women&#8217;s 65-69 50-meter free world record with a 31.28. \u00a0That effort cleared her time from March of 31.35. \u00a0She&#8217;s responsible for the last four progressions of the record since USA&#8217;s <strong>Carolyn Boak<\/strong> held it with a 31.84 in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Sweden&#8217;s<strong> Anette Philipsson<\/strong> of Linkopings Allmanna SS lowered a vaunted <strong>Laura Val<\/strong> world record in the women&#8217;s 50-54 50-meter free with a 27.79. \u00a0That performance downed Val&#8217;s 14-year-old record of 28.22 set in August 2001.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Anna Poliakova<\/strong> of Neva Stars turned in a world record time in the women&#8217;s 25-29 100-meter fly with a 59.99. \u00a0That&#8217;s the first sub 1:00 in the division, smashing <strong>Yuko Nakanishi&#8217;s<\/strong> 2010 record of 1:02.73.<\/p>\n<p>Romania&#8217;s <strong>Ioan Stefan Ghergel<\/strong> of Gold Starts Baia Mare set the world record in the men&#8217;s 35-39 100-meter fly with a time of 55.35. \u00a0That swim cleared the previous record of 55.84 set by <strong>Eiji Nomura<\/strong> back in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Germany&#8217;s <strong>Dieter Hoefel<\/strong> of Sk Sparta Konstanz clocked a time of 36.86 in the men&#8217;s 70-74 50-meter breast. \u00a0That swim cleared the 37.23 world record set by <strong>Yoshihiko Osaki<\/strong> back in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Sergey Geybel<\/strong> of Sibmasters threw down a 28.24 to set the world record in the men&#8217;s 30-34 50-meter breaststroke division. \u00a0That effort lowered his own mark of 28.47 set in April.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Igor Golovin<\/strong> of Troyka cracked the men&#8217;s 25-29 50-meter breast world record with a 27.84. \u00a0That time just clipped <strong>Mark Gangloff&#8217;s<\/strong> global standard of 27.96 from 2011.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meet Records<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Germany&#8217;s <strong>Christel Schulz<\/strong> of Sg. Einheit Rathenow lowered the meet record in the women&#8217;s 75-79 50-meter free with a time of 35.48. That&#8217;s faster than the listed mark of 35.88, but slower than <strong>Jane Asher&#8217;s<\/strong> world record of 34.85 from 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Schulz picked off another meet record with a 3:34.65 in the women&#8217;s 75-79 200-meter IM. \u00a0That&#8217;s a few seconds shy of <strong>Yoshiko Osaki&#8217;s<\/strong> world record of 3:32.94 from 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Natalia Vinokurenkova<\/strong> of Troyka put up a 2:22.12 in the women&#8217;s 30-34 200-meter IM to lowered the meet record.<\/p>\n<p>She returned in the women&#8217;s 30-34 50-meter breaststroke with another meet record time of 32.40. \u00a0That was just off <strong>Nicole Heidemann&#8217;s<\/strong> world record of 32.22 from 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Great Britain&#8217;s <strong>Emma Gage<\/strong> of Trafford Metro Bor Swim Club clocked a 25.73 to beat the meet record in the women&#8217;s 25-29 50-meter free. \u00a0That&#8217;s a bit off <strong>Annabel Kosten&#8217;s<\/strong> world record of 25.42 from 2004.<\/p>\n<p>Hungary&#8217;s <strong>Bela Banki Horvath<\/strong> of Murena Szegedi Uszo was at it again with a meet record time of 1:18.26 in the men&#8217;s 95-99 50-meter free.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Aleksei Manzhula<\/strong> of Neva Stars posted a 23.77 to down the men&#8217;s 35-39 50-meter free meet record, while Russia&#8217;s <strong>Sergey Mukhin<\/strong> of Tsunami clocked a 23.12 to clear the men&#8217;s 30-34 50-meter free meet record.<\/p>\n<p>Belarus&#8217; <strong>Pavel Zinkevich<\/strong> of Zubr topped the men&#8217;s 25-29 50-meter free meet record with a 22.94.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Austria&#8217;s <strong>Verena Klocker<\/strong> of Sc Ikb Stadtoasen clocked a time of 1:04.06 to lower the women&#8217;s 30-34 100-meter fly meet record.<\/p>\n<p>Czech&#8217;s <strong>Petr Gregor<\/strong> of Swimmpower Prague set the meet record in the men&#8217;s 40-44 100-meter fly with a 57.30.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Andrey Denisenko<\/strong> of Troyka turned in a 55.34 to set the men&#8217;s 25-29 100-meter fly meet record.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Anna Kuzmicheva<\/strong> of Neva Stars posted a 32.03 to down the meet record in the women&#8217;s 25-29 50-meter breast.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Andrey Barzhak<\/strong> of Neva Stars turned in a 31.52 meet record in the men&#8217;s 50-54 50-meter breast.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Sergei Firichenko<\/strong> of Troyka won the men&#8217;s 40-44 50-meter breast in a meet-record time of 29.32.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a
