{"id":150048,"date":"2015-08-10T21:31:36","date_gmt":"2015-08-11T04:31:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=150048"},"modified":"2015-08-10T21:31:36","modified_gmt":"2015-08-11T04:31:36","slug":"watch-michael-phelps-race-video-of-personal-best-200-breast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/watch-michael-phelps-race-video-of-personal-best-200-breast\/","title":{"rendered":"Watch Michael Phelps Race Video of Personal Best 200 Breast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the 2015 USA Swimming Long Course Summer Nationals,\u00a0<strong>\u00a0Michael Phelps<\/strong> finally picked off a record that has long eluded him. \u00a0<strong>Scott Spann<\/strong>&#8216;s North Baltimore Aquatic Club team record in the men&#8217;s 200-meter breast.<\/p>\n<p>Phelps finished fifth tonight in the men&#8217;s 200-meter breaststroke with a personal best time of 2:11.30. \u00a0That was better than Spann&#8217;s previous team record of 2:12.1 that provided some extra motivation for Phelps as plenty of trash talking happened between the two today.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"2015 Phillips 66 Nationals: Men&#039;s 200m Breast A Final\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/p0ycdUkpUrY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><strong>Original 200 breast report:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Craig Benson<\/strong> won tonight\u2019s 200-meter breast with a stellar 2:09.68 at USA Nationals. The Scottish swimmer added 0.58 from his 2:09.10, which stands 11th in the world, but had enough juice to top\u00a0<strong>Will Licon<\/strong>. Licon silvered with a 2:10.02, and was followed closely by\u00a0<strong>Andrew Wilson<\/strong>. Wilson\u2019s fall to third comes as a bit of a surprise after his sub-minute victory in the 100-meter breast and his 2:09.84 swim this morning. The three remained close throughout the race, as the splits indicate.<\/p>\n<p>Benson: 30.50\/32.80\/34.05\/32.33<\/p>\n<p>Licon: 29.44\/33.32\/32.85\/34.31<\/p>\n<p>Wilson: 29.46\/32.97\/34.18\/33.74<\/p>\n<p>Benson\u2019s country-mate\u00a0<strong>Michael Jamieson\u00a0<\/strong>finished just outside the top three in 2:10.91.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Phelps<\/strong> jumped one spot and dropped over a second to take fifth in 2:11.30.\u00a0<strong>BJ Johnson\u00a0<\/strong>finished sixth in 2:11.90, ahead of\u00a0<strong>Samuel Tierney<\/strong> (2:13.27)
