Jack Conger<\/b> earned his third runner-up finish of the National Championships on Sunday night in the 100 free. Conger finished in 49.05, just off his season-best time of 49.02 from the World University Games. Conger had previously finished second to Michael Phelps<\/b> in both the 100 (51.33) and 200 fly (1:54.58) events, clocking the eighth-best time in the world in both.<\/p>\n

Despite his seemingly-strong results at Nationals, Conger explained afterwards why he is not satisfied with his performances. The American record-holder in the short course yards 200 fly also discussed which events will be his focus in long course as he looks to next summer’s Olympic Trials, and he also discussed his thoughts on Texas teammate Joseph Schooling<\/b> winning bronze in the 100 fly at Worlds.<\/p>\n
