SIMRISHAMN, Sweden, June 17. DURING the second night of long course meter competition at the Swedish Grand Prix held in Simrishamn, Sweden from June 16-17, Cecilia Rasmuson slashed half-a-second off her Swedish junior record in the women's 50 fly.<\/p>\n
Rasmuson first nipped her 27.41 set on July 7, 2006 with a 27.29 in prelims. She came back at night to dip under 27 with a 26.88 for the title. In the same event, Sofie Gardell placed second in 28.37, while Natasha Sundin finished third in 29.09.<\/p>\n
Plenty of other events took place during the final session.<\/p>\n
Women's 100 freestyle<\/b>
\nMagdalena Kuras claimed the women's 100 free title in 57.35, while Lina Edlund took second in 58.13. Nathalie Lindborg rounded out the top three in 58.44.<\/p>\n
Men's 200 freestyle<\/b>
\nJohan Claar hit the wall in 1:56.98 to win the men's 200 free, while Tobias Lindbom (1:57.38) and Kristoffer Brander (1:59.60) picked up second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n
Women's 50 breaststroke<\/b>
\nRebecca Ejdervik took home the sprint breaststroke title in 31.86, while Sandra Olofsson (34.12) and Ida Nilsson (34.19) finished well behind for second and third place, respectively.<\/p>\n
Men's 100 breaststroke<\/b>
\nJoakim Nielsen provided the top time in the men's 100 breast with a 1:07.31. Lukas Gamerov took second in 1:08.11, while Nils Schonberg placed third in 1:08.60.<\/p>\n
Women's 400 IM<\/b>
\nSara Thyden won a short-heat of five swimmers with a time of 5:01.64. Linda Jonsson placed second in 5:04.64, while Eljena Knutsson took third in 5:12.08.<\/p>\n
Men's 100 butterfly<\/b>
\nPontus Flodqvist touched first in 56.98 to place ahead of second-place Samba Sjodin (57.86) and third-place Daniel Hult (58.06).<\/p>\n
Women's 100 backstroke<\/b>
\nCarin Moller stopped the clock in 1:05.38 to win, while Erika Hegestig snared second in 1:05.94. Eleonor Lindborg wound up third in 1:06.96.<\/p>\n
Men's 50 backstroke<\/b>
\nJens Petersson won the men's back splash-and-dash with a time of 27.38. He held off second-place Konstantin Sundin (27.50) and third-place Jonas Ulfskans (27.70) for the title.<\/p>\n
Women's 200 butterfly<\/b>
\nSandra Nilsson claimed a one-second triumph in the women's 200 fly with a time of 2:20.24. Linda Jonsson placed second in 2:21.49, while Matilda Larsson finished third in 2:24.56.<\/p>\n
Men's 200 IM<\/b>
\nMartin Persson notched an easy win with a time of 2:09.98. Rasmus Regnstrand touched a distant second in 2:14.83, while holding off third-place Christoffer Wallin (2:14.94).<\/p>\n
Women's 400 freestyle<\/b>
\nStina Gardell logged a two-second win in the women's 400 free with a time of 4:32.14. Linda Jonsson took another second-place swim in 4:34.83, while Angelica Risebrandt placed third in 4:36.07.<\/p>\n
Men's 50 freestyle<\/b>
\nPontus Flodqvist touched out Tomas Andolfsson, 23.84 to 23.90, in the men's 50 free for the title. Meanwhile, Sebastian Andersson claimed third in 24.45.<\/p>\n
Women's 200 breaststroke<\/b>
\nIda Nilsson captured the women's 200 breast crown in 2:42.21, while Nathalie Abrahamsson placed second in 2:43.15. Emilie Roslund settled for third in 2:44.29.<\/p>\n
Men's 1500 freestyle<\/b>
\nIn the distance freestyle event, Johan Claar clocked a 16:28.02 to take home the trophy. Adam Olsson nabbed second in 16:30.66, while Jonas Grundstrom earned third in 16:56.56.<\/p>\n
Men's 200 backstroke<\/b>
