A quartet of meet records fell during the second day of long course meter competition at the Golden Bear meet held in Zagreb, Croatia from June 16-17.  Overall, the final day of swimming featured a sprint-laden schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Germany&#39;s Janne Schaefer clipped the women&#39;s 50 breast standard with a time of 31.15.  That lowered the previous standard of 31.27 set by Zoe Baker.  Agnes Kovacs placed second in 32.70, while Sarah Poewe took third in 32.99.<\/p>\n<p>Newly-minted world record holder Therese Alshammar surpassed her previous meet standard of 26.50 with a 25.83 in the 50 fly, a half-a-second off her world record performance of 25.46.  Martina Moravcova touched second in 27.50, while Daniela Samulski finished third in 27.71.<\/p>\n<p>Fresh off an American record in the 50 back, Randall Bal chopped a second-and-a-half off the meet standard of 55.25 set by Stefen Driesen in the 100 back.  Bal stopped the clock in 53.87 to earn the title.  Meanwhile, Marko Strahija (55.17) and Markus Rogan (56.63) pocketed second and third place, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Kamil Kasprowicz hit the wall in 2:13.93 in the men&#39;s 200 breaststroke to eclipse the 2:15.40 meet standard set by Henrique Barbosa.  Chris Christensen placed second in 2:14.47, while Kresimir Cac finished third in 2:25.89.<\/p>\n<p>Other winners who did not break meet records included Darren Mew (men&#39;s 50 breast \u2013 28.48), Duje Draganja (men&#39;s 50 fly \u2013 23.81, men&#39;s 100 free \u2013 50.01), Monika Mocnik (women&#39;s 400 free \u2013 4:21.11), Luka Turk (men&#39;s 400 free \u2013 3:55.38), Anastasia Zueva (women&#39;s 100 back \u2013 1:02.74), Diana Remenyi (women&#39;s 200 breast \u2013 2:33.75), Sara Isakovic (women&#39;s 200 fly \u2013 2:11.19), Petar Mrcela (men&#39;s 200 fly \u2013 2:05.40) and Olga Kluychnikova (women&#39;s 100 free \u2013 57.43).<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/65.110.72.225\/SPIPDF\/2007goldenbearday2.pdf target=_blank>Click Here to view PDF results file<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ZAGREB, Croatia, June 17.
