The 2015 Pan American gold medalist in the 100-meter breast won tonight&#8217;s 100 breast final with a 1:06.55. Meili won a tight duel against\u00a0<strong>Lilly King<\/strong>, who registered a 1:06.69. King had a monster 1.47 second drop to give Meili a scare and held the lead the first 50.<\/p>\n<p>Meili: 31.21\/35.34<\/p>\n<p>King: 31.14\/35.55<\/p>\n<p><strong>Laura Sogar<\/strong>\u00a0earned the bronze medal with a 1:07.41 final time, just ahead of Louisville&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrea Cottrell<\/strong>\u00a0(1:07.63).\u00a0<strong>Bridget Blood<\/strong>\u00a0took fifth with a 1:07.88.\u00a0<strong>Sarah Haase<\/strong>\u00a0(1:08.00) edged\u00a0<strong>Jessica Hansen<\/strong>\u00a0(1:08.16) for sixth, while\u00a0<strong>Emma Reaney<\/strong>\u00a0closed out the championship final with a 1:08.58.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100-meter Fly<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Michael Phelps<\/strong>\u00a0is back on top of the world in the 100-meter fly. Phelps blasted a 50.45 in tonight&#8217;s final at USA Nationals in San Antonio. The time puts him first in the world, ahead of butterfly heavyweights\u00a0<strong>Chad le Clos<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Laszlo Cseh<\/strong>.\u00a0Phelps&#8217;s swim was an impeccable response to Le Clos and Cseh&#8217;s<a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=149180\">\u00a0&#8220;trash talk&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0from the FINA World Championships in Kazan. Le Clos (50.56) and Cseh (50.87) took first and second at Worlds.<\/p>\n<p>Phelps&#8217;s swim is only 0.63 seconds off of his world record time of 49.82, an incredible mark for Phelps on his quest to return to the Olympics in 2016. His splits were simply outstanding.<\/p>\n<p>Phelps: 24.10\/26.35<\/p>\n<p>After the turn, Phelps began to separate himself from second-place finisher\u00a0<strong>Jack Conger<\/strong>\u00a0and the rest of the field. From there, he seemed to gain steam.\u00a0Conger touched to a 51.33, while\u00a0<strong>David Nolan<\/strong>\u00a0wound up third in 52.15.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Giles Smith<\/strong>\u00a0finished just outside the top three in 52.23.\u00a0<strong>Matthew Josa<\/strong>, who was seeded third entering the night, posted a 52.28.\u00a0<strong>Connor Black<\/strong>\u00a0(52.61),\u00a0<strong>Tripp Cooper<\/strong>\u00a0(52.63), and\u00a0<strong>Braxston Timm<\/strong>\u00a0(53.38) rounded out the championship final.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50-meter Free<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Madison Kennedy<\/strong>\u00a0zipped to a 24.71 second victory in the women&#8217;s 50-meter free final at USA Nationals. This morning, she led prelims with a 24.93 and was the only swimmer under 25 seconds.\u00a0<strong>Amanda Weir<\/strong>\u00a0cracked the 25-second mark tonight, finishing second in 24.85.\u00a0<strong>Kelso Worrell<\/strong>\u00a0continued her tear and vaulted to third place with a 25.01.\u00a0<strong>Amanda Kendall\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Faith Johnson\u00a0<\/strong>tied for fourth with a 25.18.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amy Bliquist<\/strong>\u00a0earned sixth in 25.26, while\u00a0<strong>Olivia Smoliga<\/strong>\u00a0(25.29) and\u00a0<strong>Allyx Purcell<\/strong>\u00a0(25.35) to fill out the championship final.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 50-meter Free<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Caaleb Dressel<\/strong>\u00a0took down two sprint freestyle heavyweights in tonight&#8217;s 50-meter free final at USA Nationals. Dressel held on to his top seed by zooming to a 21.53 National Championship finish ahead of\u00a0<strong>Cullen Jones\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Josh Schneider<\/strong>. That time puts him third in the world this year.<\/p>\n<p>Jones (21.87) and Schneider (21.92) swapped places from their prelims finish to take second and third, respectively. Jones&#8217;s swim ties him for the ninth-fastest time in the world in 2015.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Chadwick<\/strong>\u00a0nearly broke the 22-second mark with his 22.03 fourth place finish.\u00a0<strong>William Copeland\u00a0<\/strong>earned fifth in 22.25, while\u00a0<strong>Kyle Darmody<\/strong>\u00a0registered a 22.35 to take sixth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wyatt Ubellacker\u00a0<\/strong>(22.48) touched out\u00a0<strong>Michael Trice<\/strong>\u00a0(22.49) to take seventh place.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 400-meter IM<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Cailtin Leverenz<\/strong>\u00a0won the women&#8217;s 400-meter IM in convincing fashion at USA Nationals tonight. Leverenz dropped 2.95 seconds from her prelims swim to take gold in 4:38.81. She took an early lead on the butterfly leg and never relented, finishing the race with a 2.72-second cushion.<\/p>\n<p>Leverenz Splits:<\/p>\n<p>1:02.37 &#8211; 1:13.38 &#8211; 1:18.62 &#8211; 1:04.44<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sarah Henry\u00a0<\/strong>(4:41.53) edged\u00a0<strong>Madisyn Cox<\/strong>\u00a0(4:41.75) to earn silver.\u00a0<strong>Emily Cameron<\/strong>\u00a0touched just outside the top three with a 4:42.24 final time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mia Nonnenberg\u00a0<\/strong>dropped 2.37 seconds from prelims to nab fifth in 4:43.88.\u00a0<strong>Bethany Galat<\/strong>\u00a0took sixth with a 4:44.51.\u00a0<strong>Katherine Mills<\/strong>\u00a0took the race out with Leverenz and split a 1:02.79 on the fly leg, but fell to seventh with a 4:45.72.\u00a0<strong>Catalina Corro Lorente<\/strong>\u00a0wound up eighth with a 4:47.08.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 4 x 200-meter Free Relay<\/h3>\n<p>The women of the Aggie Swim Club won tonight&#8217;s 4 x 200 free relay in 8:06.07 at USA Nationals. The Aggie women truly began to separate themselves during the second half of the race where they were anchored by\u00a0<strong>Colleen Konetzke<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Sarah Henry.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Aggie Swim Club Splits<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sarah Gibson<\/strong>: 2:01.25<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meredith Oliver<\/strong>: 2:02.75<\/p>\n<p>Colleen Konetzke: 2:02.22<\/p>\n<p>Sarah Henry: 1:59.85<\/p>\n<p>Indiana University took second with an 8:09.77. Tennessee Aquatics medaled with a third-place 8:11.52 finish. Club Wolverine trailed behind them with an 8:12.23. The University of Kentucky wound up fifth in 8:12.76.
