LARAMIE, Wyoming, June 9. UNIVERSITY of Wyoming diving coach Ben Herdt has signed five athletes to National Letters of Intent for the 2007-08 season. The five divers \u2013 three male and two female \u2013 are expected to contribute immediately. Here's a look at the recruits, thanks to the capsules provided by the Wyoming Sports Information Department.<\/p>\n
Kyle Bogner, Centennial, Colo. (Littleton High School)<\/b>
\nBogner was a Colorado State Finalist twice during his high school career and qualified for the state meet three times. He holds the Littleton high school record in both the six and 11 dive events. He was a four year diving letterwinner and also competed for the Mile High Dive Club. <\/p>\n
Mark Murdoch, Flower Mound, Texas (Marcus High School)<\/b>
\nMurdoch is both an accomplished diver and gymnast and competed in the US National gymnastics meet this spring. In the pool, he was a district champion and the district diver of the year as a junior and senior. He was also a region champion as a senior and placed third at regionals as a junior. The All-American was the Marcus High School most valuable diver all four years of his career. He placed third at the district meet as a freshman and sophomore. He dove club for Grapevine Colleyville. <\/p>\n
Colter Yancey, Pflugerville, Texas (Pflugerville High School)<\/b>
\nYancey was a high school diving All-American his junior year. He recently placed 16th in the three-meter event at the West Junior National Meet. He holds the Pflugerville school record in the ten-meter event. He also competed in club diving for Longhorn Aquatics.<\/p>\n
Virginia Marcon, Spring, Texas (Klein High School)<\/b>
\nMarcon was an All-American both in the pool and in the classroom. She earned diving All-America honors her junior and senior years and Academic All-America honors as a senior. She was named the district diver of the year as a senior and placed at the district meet all four years of her high school career. She also placed at the regional meet as a sophomore, junior and senior. She was also a gymnast and competed in the sport until high school. She dove club for the Woodlands Diving Academy. <\/p>\n
Allie Smith, Sandy, Utah (Alta High School)<\/b>
\nSmith placed fifth in the Utah State Championship meet in 2006. She was a Utah All-State diver all four years of high school and was a team captain as a sophomore and senior. She holds the Alta High School record in the one-meter (11 dives) event with a score of 442.55. She was a member of the Alta Honor Roll and was an Academic All-State selection as a senior.
