Claire Adams <\/strong>of Carmel Swim Club led prelims of the women\u2019s 100-meter back at USA Nationals with a superb 1:00.08. The time is a 1.04-second drop from her entry time, which was also seeded 11th<\/sup> at 1:01.12. Adams popped off a 29.30 on the first 50, and followed it up with a 30.78 second half. Georgia Davies<\/strong> fell one spot to claim second in 1:00.11. Davies started the race quicker than Adams with a 29.18, but faltered on the final lap with a 30.93.<\/p>\n Ali Deloof<\/strong> will be slated third heading into finals with a 1:00.35. Last night\u2019s 100-meter fly champion Kelsi Worrell<\/strong> jumped from the 52nd<\/sup> seed to land fourth with a 1:00.38, a 2.38 second time drop. Olivia Smoliga <\/strong>(1:00.43) and Missouri\u2019s Hannah Stevens<\/strong> (1:00.64) followed behind Worrell to take fifth and sixth, respectively. Clara Smiddy <\/strong>and Danielle Galyer<\/strong> tied for seventh with a 1:01.10.<\/p>\n The B final will feature Amy Bliquist <\/strong>(1:01.36), Ally Howe<\/strong> (1:01.41), Kathleen Dawson<\/strong> (1:01.47), Tasija Karosas<\/strong> (1:01.53), Caroline Baldwin<\/strong> (1:01.55), Kaitlin Harty <\/strong>(1:01.57), Bonnie Brandon <\/strong>(1:01.60), and Bridgette Alexander <\/strong>(1:01.60).<\/p>\n Jack Conger<\/strong> vaulted from the 20th<\/sup> seed to take prelims of the men\u2019s 200-meter free in 1:47.62 at USA Nationals. Conger\u2019s time bested the top seed time entering the meet, which was a 1:48.29 belonging to Townley Haas<\/strong>. Conger made a statement on the first 50-meters, being the only competitor under the 25-second mark. From there, he didn\u2019t look back:<\/p>\n Conger: 24.86\/27.37\/28.28\/27.11<\/p>\n Blake Pieroni<\/strong> (1:48.10) and Frank Dyer<\/strong> (1:48.64) claimed the next two slots heading into finals, while Maxime Rooney<\/strong>\u2019s 1:48.68 allowed him to jump ten spots to take fourth. Haas fell to fifth in 1:48.74. Trevor Carroll<\/strong> (1:48.78) and Michael Wynalda<\/strong> (1:48.79) touched one after the other for sixth and seventh. Tom Kremer<\/strong> clinched the final spot in the top heat with his 1:48.88.<\/p>\n Last night\u2019s 400-meter free national champion Zane Grothe<\/strong> was 0.01 from vying for a spot in the championship final. Instead, his 1:48.89 landed him the top seed in the B final. New Stanford commit Grant Shoults<\/strong> wound up tenth in 1:49.33. Long Gutierrez<\/strong> (1:49.35), Justin Glanda<\/strong> (1:49.38), Max Litchfield<\/strong> (1:49.58), Ieauan Lloyd<\/strong> (1:49.72), Austin Surhoff<\/strong> (1:49.87), and Jonathan Roberts<\/strong> (1:50.05) also made the consolation final.<\/p>\n Junya Koga<\/strong>\u00a0clocked a 53.63 100-meter back time in prelims at USA Nationals to secure the top spot heading into tonight\u2019s championship final. Koga is riding on a wave of moment after breaking the US Open Record in the 50-meter back in a time trial yesterday. His 24.36 yesterday broke his own mark of 24.50. In today\u2019s race, Koga splashed to a 25.81 start and punctuated the race with a 27.82 second half.<\/p>\n Nick Thoman<\/strong>, the top seed entering the meet, posted a 54.03 to take second place. Thoman split a 26.87\/27.16, and will need a faster first 50 to keep pace with Koga at finals.\u00a0Luke Kaliszak<\/strong>\u00a0swam a 54.32 to claim third.\u00a0Arkady Vyatchanin<\/strong>\u00a0touched right behind Kaliszak with a 54.32. Vyatchanin and Kaliszak both swam 26.51 on the first half of the race.<\/p>\n Kyle Darmody\u00a0<\/strong>(54.43),\u00a0Jacob Pebley<\/strong>\u00a0(54.58),\u00a0Jack Blyzinsky<\/strong>\u00a0(54.58), and\u00a0Taylor Dale<\/strong>\u00a0(54.69) also qualified for the championship final heat.<\/p>\n Landing a second swim in the B final are\u00a0Eugene Godsoe<\/strong>\u00a0(54.72),\u00a0Christopher Reid<\/strong>\u00a0(54.99),\u00a0Nic Graesser<\/strong>\u00a0(55.01),\u00a0Joe Patching<\/strong>\u00a0(55.13),\u00a0Jake Taylor\u00a0<\/strong>(55.28),\u00a0Michael Andrew<\/strong>\u00a0(55.34),\u00a0Henrique Machado<\/strong>\u00a0(55.40), and\u00a0Austin Quinn\u00a0<\/strong>(55.45).<\/p>\n Allison Schmitt<\/strong>\u00a0held on to her top seed in the women\u2019s 200-meter free at USA Nationals this morning. Schmitt finished ahead of\u00a0Hali Flickinger<\/strong>, who swam a full slate of events last night. Flickinger clocked a 1:58.54 and had a stronger second half than Schmitt.<\/p>\n Schmitt:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 27.70\/29.43\/30.79\/30.20<\/p>\n Flickinger: 28.47\/29.78\/30.23\/30.06<\/p>\n Yesterday, Schmitt was the top seed entering finals in the 400-meter free, but dropped all the way to fifth. A slower second half marred her race last night, and it could provide Flickinger a chance to move up a spot tonight.<\/p>\n Sarah Henry\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.42) and\u00a0Katie Drabot\u00a0<\/strong>(1:59.47) took third and fourth, but are only separated by a thin margin.\u00a0Madisyn Cox<\/strong>, who silvered in last night\u2019s 200 IM, claimed fifth with a 1:59.90.\u00a0Haley Lips<\/strong>\u00a0(2:00.08),\u00a0Hannah Cox<\/strong>\u00a0(2:00.43), and\u00a0Alexa Davis<\/strong>\u00a0(2:00.51) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\nMen’s 200-meter Free<\/h3>\n
