SUN Devil Aquatics Nick Brunelli provided the top performance of the final day of long course meter competition at the <i>Swimming World Magazine<\/i> Cactus Classic on May 28.  To complete a solid early-season meet, Brunelli touched in 50.66 to clear the Olympic Trial cut in the 100 free.<\/p>\n<p>Scottsdale Aquatic Club ended up taking home bragging rights with a combined team triumph of 6,033.50 points.  SAC&#39;s co-sponsor at the event, Sun Devil Aquatics, placed second with 4,089.50 points, while Brophy East Swim Team tallied 2,973.50 points to take third.<\/p>\n<p>Individual highpoint award winners, sponsored by H20Audio, included:<br \/>\nGirls 10&#038;U: Amy Bilquist, Silver Fins, 150 points<br \/>\nBoys 10&#038;U: Brandon Hoffer, Scottsdale Aquatic Club, 158.50 points<br \/>\nGirls 11-12: Celina Li, Scottsdale Aquatic Club, 150 points<br \/>\nBoys 11-12: William Licon, West Texas Typhoon, 160 points<br \/>\nGirls 13-14: Traycie Swartz, Sun Devil Aquatics, 144 points<br \/>\nBoys 13-14: Chase Lovelace, Nashville Aquatic Club, 140 points<br \/>\nWomen Senior: Whitney Lopus, Sun Devil Aquatics, 120 points<br \/>\nMen Senior: Nate Telep, Scottsdale Aquatic Club\/Alex Lendrum, Brophy East Swim Team, 102 points<\/p>\n<p>The meet, put on by the Scottsdale Aquatic Club and Sun Devil Aquatics, played host to much top-flight action.  As the title sponsor of the event, we&#39;d like to extend a special thanks to all of the meet officials and volunteers for rolling out a stellar competition.<\/p>\n<p>We&#39;d also like to thank Duncan Scott for providing us the Call of the Race for each senior final as well as offering his expert thoughts at the end of each day of racing.<\/p>\n<p>We look forward to the 2008 edition of the meet as we bring you even more exciting multimedia coverage.<\/p>\n<p>Here is an event-by-event rundown, including links to Duncan Scott&#39;s Call of the Race for each championship final:<\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 200 IM<\/b><br \/>\nSun Devil Aquatics grabbed the top two spots in the event as Whitney Lopus touched out teammate Christine Olson, 2:23.73 to 2:23.77, for the sweep.  Meanwhile, Danielle Milligan of Scottsdale Aquatic Club picked up third in 2:25.97.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/swimmingworldftp.swimmingworld.com:9995\/SPI-Streaming-Backup\/SwimmingWorld\/CactusClassic\/w200IM.mp3>Women&#39;s 200 IM<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 200 IM<\/b><br \/>\nNate Telep of Scottsdale Aquatics held off a pair of Nashville Aquatic Club teammates to stop the clock in 2:13.32 for the title.  Hayes Johnson (2:13.97) and Curtis Lovelace (2:14.57) rounded out the top three with second and third-place finishes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/swimmingworldftp.swimmingworld.com:9995\/SPI-Streaming-Backup\/SwimmingWorld\/CactusClassic\/m200IM.mp3>Men&#39;s 200 IM<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 100 free<\/b><br \/>\nSun Devil Aquatics dominated the event with a 1-2-3-4 effort.  Caitlin Andrew clocked a 58.26 for the crown, while Haley Krakoski (58.81), Lindsey Brown (59.09) and Jess Perazzo (59.31) took second, third and fourth, respectively.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/swimmingworldftp.swimmingworld.com:9995\/SPI-Streaming-Backup\/SwimmingWorld\/CactusClassic\/w100free.mp3>Women&#39;s 100 Freestyle<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 100 free<\/b><br \/>\nNick Brunelli of Sun Devil Aquatics put together a great finishing event to the meet with a 50.66 to clear the Olympic Trial cut in the 100 free by nearly a second.  Teammate Sean Boyle clocked a 52.72 for second place, while Atiba Wade finished third in 52.89.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/swimmingworldftp.swimmingworld.com:9995\/SPI-Streaming-Backup\/SwimmingWorld\/CactusClassic\/m100free.mp3>Men&#39;s 100 Freestyle<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 200 breast<\/b><br \/>\nAnother dominant effort from Sun Devil Aquatics with a top-three sweep came in the women&#39;s 200 breast.  Adriana Marmolejo hit the wall in 2:36.73 for a senior national cut en route to the win.  Her teammates Christine Olson (2:40.98) and Lindsey Russenberger (2:45.60) rounded out the top three.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/swimmingworldftp.swimmingworld.com:9995\/SPI-Streaming-Backup\/SwimmingWorld\/CactusClassic\/w200breast.mp3>Women&#39;s 200 breaststroke<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 200 breast<\/b><br \/>\nCurtis Lovelace of Nashville Aquatic Club closed a strong meet with a win in the men&#39;s 200 breast.  Lovelace, who has been featured on SwimmingWorldMagazine.com as a promising senior-to-be next season, turned in a 2:27.96 for first.  Meanwhile, Scottsdale Aquatic Club earned the next two spots as Nate Telep placed second in 2:31.49 and Robert Barrett took third in 2:33.03.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/swimmingworldftp.swimmingworld.com:9995\/SPI-Streaming-Backup\/SwimmingWorld\/CactusClassic\/m200breast.mp3>Men&#39;s 200 breaststroke<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#39;s 1500 free<\/b><br \/>\nAshley Evans of Brophy East Swim Team claimed another individual title, this time with a 17:19.57 in the distance freestyle event.  Sun Devil Aquatics&#39; Angela Duckworth picked up second in 17:49.52, while Lindsey Laporte of Scottsdale Aquatic Club placed third in 18:09.95.<\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/swimmingworldftp.swimmingworld.com:9995\/SPI-Streaming-Backup\/SwimmingWorld\/CactusClassic\/w1500free.mp3>Women&#39;s 1500 Freestyle<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#39;s 1500 free<\/b><br \/>\nScottsdale Aquatic Club topped the men&#39;s 1500 free with a top-three sweep.
