TREVOR Scheid, who swims for John Landreth at Shady Side Academy as well as Al Rose and John Lynch with the JCC Sailfish in Pittsburgh, Pa., is the next subject of our Promising Seniors-To-Be series on SwimmingWorldMagazine.com.<\/p>\n<p>As of the May 14 National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA) <a href=http:\/\/www.inswim.net\/allamer07b.html target=_blank>release<\/a> of All-American candidates, Scheid owned the eighth-fastest time in the 200 free (1:39.02).  Additionally, he clocked a 21.08 in the 50 free and a 45.78 in the 100 free to be included in the All-American applicant list in those events.<\/p>\n<p>Scheid sat down with SwimmingWorldMagazine.com to talk about his swimming career to this point and his future in the sport.<\/p>\n<p><b>Was there a watershed mark in your career that made it clear you had a gift for the sport and could achieve big things?<\/b><br \/>\n<i>Yes.  I think the success I had this year made me realize that some of the higher goals I had set for myself were attainable, such as an Olympic trial cut.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>What type of interaction do you have with your coach when it comes to training? What kind of input do you have?<\/b><br \/>\n<i>My coaches pay very close attention to how I handle specific workouts and use my performance to create later workouts.  They usually talk to me about any kind of change they want to make in my training, but I usually agree with whatever they have me do.  I am always confident that what they have me do will allow me to improve.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>What are your goals for your senior season?<\/b><br \/>\n<i>I hope that I can continue to improve as much as I did this year.  Junior year has gotten me even more involved and dedicated to the sport, so I hope I can continue to improve.  The summer following my senior year I hope I can get an Olympic trial cut in the 400 or 200 free.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Who has made the biggest impact on your swimming career to this point?<\/b><br \/>\n<i>I can&#39;t really put it all on one person but if I were to name a few it would by my coaches and my family.  From the start, my family has never pushed me too hard with the sport, which is one of the main reasons I think I have achieved recent success because I have never felt tired of swimming.  The dedication my coaches put into my training really motivates me to impress them.  Without my coaches, I never could have achieved this much success.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Have you verbally committed to any University?  If so, which one and why?  If not, who is in your top five and why?<\/b><br \/>\n<i>I have not made any verbal commitment to any university, but here are my top five.  In no specific order: Stanford, Yale, Michigan, Northwestern, Princeton.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>What has the recruiting process been like for you?<\/b><br \/>\n<i>So far it has been exciting getting letters and e-mails from colleges, but I have not made many visits to schools, so things are still pretty open for me.
