Hit refresh for the latest coverage.<\/p>\n<h3>Event Schedule<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Women&#8217;s 200 Freestyle<\/li>\n<li>Men&#8217;s 200 Freestyle<\/li>\n<li>Women&#8217;s 200 Breaststroke<\/li>\n<li>Men&#8217;s 200 Breaststroke<\/li>\n<li>Women&#8217;s 100 Backstroke<\/li>\n<li>Men&#8217;s 100 Backstroke<\/li>\n<li>Women&#8217;s 800 Free Relay<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Freestyle<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Taylor Ruck\u00a0<\/strong>ran away with the A final of the 200 freestyle with a 1:59.79.\u00a0Ruck\u00a0led from start to finish, but it was her closing split of 30.49 that really separated her from the rest of the field. Both <b>Jennifer Campbell\u00a0<\/b>(2:00.95) and\u00a0<strong>Erika Brown\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.07) flipped about .4\u00a0behind Ruck at the 100\u00a0but couldn&#8217;t catch her in the second half of the race.\u00a0<strong>Melissa Fish\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.31),\u00a0<strong>Morgan Tankersley\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.49),\u00a0<strong>Katrina Konopka\u00a0<\/strong>(2:01.77), and\u00a0<strong>Jessica Merritt\u00a0<\/strong>(2:02.21) all finished under the Olympic Trials Standard of 2:02.39.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sophie Skinner\u00a0<\/strong>(2:02.00) just out-touched\u00a0<strong>Diana Dunn\u00a0<\/strong>(2:00.04) to win the B final.\u00a0<strong>Mary Pelton\u00a0<\/strong>from NBAC won the C final in 2:02.49.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Freestyle<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Maxime Rooney\u00a0<\/strong>continued a strong meet with a 1:49.19 victory in the 200 freestyle.\u00a0Rooney&#8217;s time was just off of\u00a0<strong>Caleleb Dressel&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>meet record of 1:48.64 from 2013. Rooney led the race from start to finish, flipping at 52.43 at the 100, almost a second ahead of\u00a0second place finisher\u00a0<strong>Aukai Lileikis\u00a0<\/strong>(1:49.90). Third place finisher <strong>Park Jones<\/strong> just barely missed breaking 1:50, posting a time\u00a0of 1:50.01. The top four in the race finished under the Olympic Trials cut, with fourth place finisher\u00a0<strong>James Murphy\u00a0<\/strong>recording a\u00a01:51.57.<\/p>\n<p>Also under the Trials standard was B Final winner\u00a0<strong>Jeff Newkirk\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:51.76.\u00a0<strong>Will Macmillan\u00a0<\/strong>won the C Final in 1:52.25.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Breaststroke<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Miranda Tucker\u00a0<\/strong>swam away with\u00a0the 200 breaststroke win in a time of 2:28.14, the only swimmer to break 2:30. The race for 2nd through 4th was tight, with all 3 finishing with 2:31&#8217;s.\u00a0<strong>Grace Zhao\u00a0<\/strong>took second in 2:31.00,\u00a0<strong>Ella Nelson\u00a0<\/strong>was\u00a0third with 2:31.65, and <strong>Madeleine Vonderhaar\u00a0<\/strong>was fourth in 2:31.70. The top 8 finishers all finished under the Olympic Trials standard of 2:34.99.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Julia Poole<\/strong>\u00a0won the B Final with a time of 2:32.55 to clear the Trials standard. <strong>Allie Raab\u00a0<\/strong>won the C Final in 2:32.01 to clear the Trials standard and drop more than 4 seconds from her prelims time.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 200 Breaststroke<\/h3>\n<p><b>Reece Whitley\u00a0<\/b>stole the show in the 200 breaststroke, dropping a half second from his prelims swim to set a meet record and 15-16 NAG record with a 2:12.47. The previous record was a 2:12.88 held by\u00a0<strong>Gunnar Bentz.\u00a0<\/strong>Whitley finished more than 2.5 seconds ahead of second place finisher\u00a0<strong>Ethan Browne\u00a0<\/strong>(2:14.88).\u00a0<strong>Marco Guarente\u00a0<\/strong>actually led at the 50 over\u00a0Whitley (30.52 vs. 30.60) before fading through the final 150 to finish third in 2:17.05.\u00a0<strong>Daniel Chang\u00a0<\/strong>(2:18.01) and\u00a0<strong>Calvin Yang\u00a0<\/strong>(2:18.36) finished fourth and fifth and cleared the Trials standard of 2:18.39.<\/p>\n<p><b>Alex Jahan<\/b>\u00a0won the B final in 2:18.38, finishing a hundredth under the Olympic Trials standard. Billy<b> Monjay\u00a0<\/b>won the C final in 2:19.59, just a second off of the Olympic Trials standard.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 100 Backstroke<\/h3>\n<p>The two 13-year olds\u00a0stole the show in the 100 backstroke going 1-2. <strong>Alex<\/strong><strong>\u00a0Walsh,\u00a0<\/strong>the leader through prelims, took the win in 1:00.84, while\u00a0<strong>Regan Smith\u00a0<\/strong>snagged second in 1:01.32. That was Walsh&#8217;s first time under 1:01 and places her second all-time for 13-14 year old&#8217;s behind superstar\u00a0<strong>Missy Franklin. Grace Ariola\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.38),\u00a0<strong>Ella Eastin\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.61), and\u00a0<strong>Hanni Leach\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.94) were all tightly bunched behind, while\u00a0<strong>Elise Haan\u00a0<\/strong>(1:02.40),\u00a0<strong>Courtney Mykkanen\u00a0<\/strong>(1:03.10) and\u00a0<strong>Tevyn Waddell\u00a0<\/strong>(1:03.29) rounded out the heat. All eight A finalists were under the Olympic Trials cut of 1:03.39.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emma Seiberlich<\/strong>\u00a0took the B final with a time of 1:02.56 to clear the Trials standard.\u00a0<strong>Ali Gayler\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Solie Laughlin\u00a0<\/strong>tied to take the C final in 1:02.98, both under their prelims times and clearing the Trials standard.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s 100 Backstroke<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Michael Andrew\u00a0<\/strong>gave the crowd its second meet record of the night as he broke through the 55-second barrier to win the 100 backstroke in 54.99. The previous meet record was a 55.46 held by\u00a0<strong>Vlad Morozov\u00a0<\/strong>from 2010. Andrew&#8217;s time took almost a full second off of his prelims swim and puts him 2nd all time for 15-16 year olds behind\u00a0<strong>Ryan Murphy.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The following three finishers all cleared the 56-second barrier, with\u00a0<strong>Daniel Carr\u00a0<\/strong>(55.64) second,\u00a0<strong>Austin Katz\u00a0<\/strong>(55.92) third, and\u00a0<strong>David Crossland\u00a0<\/strong>(55.97) fourth.\u00a0<strong>Thomas Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>(56.32),\u00a0<strong>Cameron Craig\u00a0<\/strong>(56.38),\u00a0<strong>Glen Cowland\u00a0<\/strong>(56.84), and\u00a0<strong>Taylor Delk\u00a0<\/strong>(56.92) rounded out the top 8. All eight A finalists cleared the Olympic Trials standard of 57.19.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dean Farris<\/strong>\u00a0won the B final in 57.16 to just get under the Olympic Trials standard.\u00a0<strong>Noah Henry\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed the C final win in 56.68 to clear the Trials standard.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 800 Freestyle Relay<\/h3>\n<p>The top 3 finishers in this event all came from Heat 2. The Scottsdale team of\u00a0<strong>Shae Nicolaisen, Victoria Toris, Jocelyn Wang,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Taylor Ruck\u00a0<\/strong>took the 800 Free Relay in 8:14.71. Notably,\u00a0<strong>Taylor Ruck\u00a0<\/strong>had a lightning fast 1:58.89 anchor swim (almost a second faster than her earlier win in the individual 200 free) to bring the ladies home and seal the victory.<\/p>\n<p>The SwimMac team of <strong>Becca Postoll, Jessica Merritt, Nora McCullagh, <\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Erika Brown\u00a0<\/strong>was\u00a0not far behind in 8:15.15, while the Waves Bloomington team of\u00a0<strong>Hannah Sakaluk, Grace Ariola, Hannah Boyd,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Melissa Pish\u00a0<\/strong>finished another second back\u00a0in 8:16.41.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Everything you need to follow along with finals\u00a0live during the 2015 USA Swimming Summer Junior Nationals.
