FORT LAUDERDALE, May 22. World record-holders and multi-Olympic champions Janet Evans, Jeff Rouse, Tom Jager and Krisztina Egerszegi top the list of 2001 inductees in the International Swimming Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n
Janet Evans (USA), who won three gold medals at the Seoul Olympics in 1988 and a gold and silver in Barcelona in 1992, still holds world records in the 400 and 800 meter freestyle. She set seven world records during her illustrious career.<\/p>\n
Jeff Rouse (USA), who held the world mark in the 100 back from 1992-1999, won two gold medals in Atlanta in '96, and a gold and silver in Barcelona. He set four world records during his career.<\/p>\n
Tom Jager (USA)has seven world records to his credit and still holds the 50 free mark at 21.81 seconds. He won gold and silver in 1988, gold and bronze in '92.<\/p>\n
Krizstina Egerszegi (HUNGARY) won the 200 back in three consecutive Olympic Games: 1988, '92 and '96, equaling Dawn Fraser's feat of 1956-64 in the 100 free. In Barcelona she swept both backstrokes and won the 400 IM; in '88 she earned silver in the 100 back. In 1996, she was bronze medalist in the 400 IM.<\/p>\n

\n Wendy Wyland (USA), diver. Gold medalist on the 10m platform at the 1982 World Championships;
\n Carlos Giron (MEXICO), diver. Silver medalist on the 3-m springboard at the 1980 Olympics;
\n Michelle Calkins (CANADA), synchro., Gold medalist in duet at the 1978 World Championships;
\n Alexander Kabanov (RUSSIA), water polo. Gold medalist at the 1980 Olympics and '82 World Championships.
\n Koji Kato (JAPAN), coach. National team coach at 1968, 72, 76 and 84 Olympics. Coach of 39 Olympic swimmers including gold medalist Mayumi Aoki.
\n Nick Thierry (CANADA), contributor. Founder and publisher of SwimNews Magazine (1974) and Founder of the International Swimming Statisticians Association (1986).
\n Robert Hoffman (USA), pioneer contributor. Founder of NSPI, Founder\/Publisher of Swimming Pool Age, and Swimming Pool Data and Reference Annual.
