CHICAGO, Illinois, May 16. THE American bid city for the 2016 Summer Olympics, Chicago has been told to alter its logo and remove the torch because it violates rules set forth by the International Olympic Committee pertaining to cities hoping to host a Games. The order on the logo was reported by the Chicago Tribune<\/i>.<\/p>\n
No Olympic images are allowed on bid-city logos and the Chicago Organizing Committee was told this week to change its design. Chicago is expected to battle with Madrid, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, Rome, Prague, St. Petersburg, Doha (Qatar) and Baku (Azerbaijan) for the right to host the Games of 2016.<\/p>\n
"Logos change in various phases of the bid process,'' Chicago 2016 spokesman Michael Kontos told the Tribune<\/i>. `"We are going to abide by the rules of this phase of the process, as we have abided by the rules of the previous phases. Several weeks ago we did seek clarification whether the logo in its current fashion would be seen as out of sync with the rules going forward.
