{"id":147036,"date":"2015-08-01T04:51:36","date_gmt":"2015-08-01T11:51:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=147036"},"modified":"2015-08-01T04:51:36","modified_gmt":"2015-08-01T11:51:36","slug":"ye-shiwen-hobbled-by-ankle-issues-at-2015-fina-world-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ye-shiwen-hobbled-by-ankle-issues-at-2015-fina-world-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"Ye Shiwen Hobbled By Ankle Issues at 2015 FINA World Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The hits just keep on coming to the stars associated with the 2015 FINA World Championships as Chinese world-record holder <strong>Ye Shiwen<\/strong> is nursing an ankle injury according to Xinhua.<\/p>\n<p>Ye, in Kazan to compete in the women&#8217;s 200-meter IM on Sunday, disclosed a year-long battle with an ankle injury.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I twisted my right foot ankle a year ago, and I did not know there is a broken bone inside until recently,&#8221; Ye\u00a0said.\u00a0&#8220;It has been affecting my training, so I was planning to pull out of the competition in Kazan, but I still decided to come. I will try my best.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ye is still trying to reclaim the magic that took her to a medley sweep at the 2012 London Olympics, where she won the 200 and 400-meter IMs.<\/p>\n<p>She set the current world record in the 400-meter IM during that meet with a 4:28.43, and also posted the textile best in the 200-meter IM with a 2:07.57 in one of the most amazing IM performances ever.<\/p>\n<p>She has had trouble duplicating those performances, however. \u00a0In 2013 at the Barcelona World Championships, she missed out on medaling but still managed to sweep the 200 and 400 IMs at the Asian Games in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Ye is facing a rejuvenated and super determined <strong>Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> here in Kazan as Hosszu is the definitive favorite to win both
