JENNY Connolly, who swims for Kristen Trella at William Henry Harrison High and TJ Day at Boilermaker Aquatics in West Lafayette, Ind., is our next profile subject.<\/p>\n<p>As of the May 4 National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA) <a href=http:\/\/www.inswim.net\/allamer07g.html target=_blank>release<\/a> of All-American candidates, Connolly holds the fifth-fastest time in the country in the 100 back with a 55.47.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, she clocked a 23.76 in the 50 free and a 55.73 in the 100 fly.<\/p>\n<p>Here is our interview with Connolly:<\/p>\n<p><b>Was there a watershed mark in your career that made it clear you had a gift for the sport and could achieve big thing?<\/b><br \/>\n<i>When I was 14, I went to Age Group State, and I won state titles in the 100 freestyle and the 200 butterfly.  That helped me realize that I could actually do something in swimming.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>What type of interaction do you have with your coach when it comes to training? What kind of input do you have?<\/b><br \/>\n<i>My coach and I have a great relationship when it comes to training.  My coach is kind of an &quot;in your face&quot; type of coach, in a good way.  He jumps up and down, and yells out of excitement during practice.  He does a great job of helping me get focused and excited to swim a really hard set.  I don&#39;t really give too much input to my coach about training.  He has a plan all set up for me through Olympic Trials, and we have gotten this far, so I do what he thinks will be best for me.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>What are your goals for your senior season?<\/b><br \/>\n<i>A goal that I have for senior season is to get Indiana state records in the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke.  I also would like to make it into the finals of the 100 backstroke at the Olympic Trials.  Another goal that I have is to do well at the Short Course Nationals in December.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Who has made the biggest impact on your swimming career to this point?<\/b><br \/>\n<i>I&#39;ve had a lot of great influences in swimming, but I&#39;d have to say my coach and my family.  I&#39;m really thankful for them and their support for me, and helping me have confidence in myself.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Have you verbally committed to any University?  If so, which one and why? If not, who is in your top five and why?<\/b><br \/>\n<i>I haven&#39;t committed to any colleges yet.  I&#39;ve heard from a lot of different schools that I am interested in.  Brigham Young University, University of Florida, Texas A&#038;M University, University of Tennessee, Northwestern University and Purdue University are on the top of my list.  But, that could change as the summer goes on.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>What has the recruiting process been like for you?<\/b><br \/>\n<i>Coaches aren&#39;t allowed to call me yet, but I have had a lot of mail and a couple of coaches have come to watch me at practice.
