SWEET BRIAR, Virginia, May 5. SWEET Briar College announced today that Alex Kuhn has been hired as the head swimming coach and aquatics director at the school. Kuhn takes over at Sweet Briar after serving as an assistant coach at Grinnell College the past three years.<\/p>\n
"We are very excited about hiring Alex," Athletics Director Kelly Morrison said. "He brings the complete package-a solid collegiate swimming and coach experience, excellent recruiting experience and a high level of energy and excitement. His experience in recruiting will help us to continue bringing in top student-athletes to the swim program at Sweet Briar and his solid technical background will help our student athletes maximize their potential."<\/p>\n
During his tenure at Grinnell, the men's and women's teams captured conference championships in 2005, 2006 and 2007, with Kuhn's first two recruiting classes accounting for more than three quarters of the team's conference scorers.<\/p>\n
Kuhn also brings more than nine years of experience as a senior level instructor and camp director at Fluid Mechanics. While at Fluid Mechanics, Kuhn became the youngest camp director in company history.<\/p>\n
"I am very excited to be named the head coach of Sweet Briar swimming and look forward to working with the team and creating a family atmosphere," said Kuhn. The program has made great strides and I hope to build on that success."<\/p>\n
