STOCKTON, California, May 4. PACIFIC announced the signing of three prospects to compete on the men's team during the 2007-08 season. Jim McHugh of Tempe, Ariz., Kurt Murphy of Suffield, Conn., and Bobby Smith of Copiague, N.Y., will join the Tigers under head coach Greg Meehan<\/p>\n
McHugh comes to Pacific from Mesa Community College where he was a 2007 Junior National Qualifier. His best times are 51.7 in the 100 fly, 4:06.5 in the 400 IM, and 1:53.5 in the 200 back.<\/p>\n
Murphy was also a Junior National Qualifier in 2007. His fastest time in the 100 breast is currently 57.8 and he comes to the Tigers from Suffield Academy.<\/p>\n
Smith will be the final addition to the roster as he comes to the team from St. John the Baptist as a member of the Long Island Aquatic Club. This year he was a Spring Senior National Qualifier and his fastest swims are 52.2 in the 100 back, 1:51.0 in the 200 back, 1:55.4 in the 200 IM, and 4:10.2 in the 200 IM.<\/p>\n
"With the signing of Aljaz, Jason, Danny and Austin in the fall, we had a good incoming class," said Meehan. "Now our incoming class has gone from good to very good with adding Bobby, Jim, and Kurt. Not only are these three very talented swimmers, but they are also three extremely great people who will make the program better. They have the work ethic and drive necessary to be successful at this level. Next year's team will be the best team we've had in my three years and I am very excited about the future."<\/p>\n
