﻿{"id":146629,"date":"2015-07-30T19:26:13","date_gmt":"2015-07-31T02:26:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=146629"},"modified":"2015-07-31T06:57:06","modified_gmt":"2015-07-31T13:57:06","slug":"5-meet-records-broken-on-night-3-of-ncsas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/5-meet-records-broken-on-night-3-of-ncsas\/","title":{"rendered":"5 Meet Records Broken on Night 3 of NCSAs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Andy Ross, Swimming World College Intern<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A total of five meet records were broken on the third night of competition at the 2015 NCSAs including every women&#8217;s event tonight in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n<p>The meet started off with the Women&#8217;s 400 IM with <strong>Margaret Aroesty<\/strong> of Long Island Aquatic Club and <strong>Lauren Edelman<\/strong> of Fishers Area Swimming going toe to toe in the final. Aroesty held off a charging Edelman at the finish with a new meet record of 4:48.26. Edelman was second at 4:48.40 and <strong>Hailey Houck<\/strong> of the Sandpipers of Nevada finished third at 4:50.65. The top four swimmers including <strong>Alexis Yager<\/strong>\u00a0(4:53.36) of Academy Bullets were all under the Olympic Trial standard. The old meet record was held by\u00a0<strong>Hannah Kastigar\u00a0<\/strong>at 4:50.03.<\/p>\n<p>The Men&#8217;s 200m Freestyle was a close race as it was claimed by <strong>Rory Lewis<\/strong> of Nation&#8217;s Capital Swim Club at 1:52.30. <strong>Aaron Schultz<\/strong> of NOVA of Virginia finished second at 1:52.90 and <strong>Glen Brown<\/strong> of Fishers Area Swimming Tigers finished in third at 1:53.00. No one in the field achieved the Olympic Trial Cut time that was 1:51.89. Lewis will be attending Penn State in the fall. Lost in the race was a 13-14 NAG record in the C-Final by <strong>Aldan Johnston<\/strong> of the Lakeside Seahawks at 1:53.31 tying the record held by <strong>Trey Freeman<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the Women&#8217;s 50m breaststroke <strong>Rachel Munson<\/strong> (pictured above) of Shorewood Swim Club went stroke for stroke with <strong>Olivia Anderson<\/strong> of Aquajets as both went under the meet record that was held by Anderson. Munson touched first though, with a 31.62. Anderson was second at 31.74. Third place went to <strong>Alexis Wenger<\/strong> of the Grosse Point Gators at 31.96. Munson will be attending Minnesota in the fall while Anderson will be attending Texas.<\/p>\n<p>The Men&#8217;s 50m breaststroke did not see a meet record as <strong>Carsten Vissering<\/strong>\u00a0of Nation&#8217;s Capital was on top with a 28.23. He just missed the meet record held by <strong>Austin Temple\u00a0<\/strong>at 28.18.\u00a0<strong>Jacob Montague<\/strong> of the Grosse Point Gators finished second at 28.73 and <strong>Keefer Barnum<\/strong> from the Lakeside Swim Team got third at 29.66. Vissering will be attending the University of Southern California in the fall.<\/p>\n<p>The Women&#8217;s 100m backstroke was a fast race with <strong>Asia Seidt<\/strong> of the Lakeside Swim Team winning it in a new meet record of 1:02.56. Followed closely behind her was <strong>Mickayla Hinkle<\/strong> of St. Croix and <strong>Lucie Nordmann<\/strong> of the Woodlands at 1:02.68 and 1:02.88 respectively. The top three were under the meet record and were also under the Olympic Trial cut.<\/p>\n<p>The Men&#8217;s 200m butterfly was another close race with <strong>Frederick Schubert<\/strong> of NOVA of Virginia coming from behind to win at 2:02.03. He finished ahead of <strong>Jon Burkett<\/strong> of the Jersey Wahoos (2:02.12) and <strong>Will Riggs<\/strong> of NOVA of Virginia (2:02.23). The top three finished under the Senior National time standard but could not catch the 2:01.99 Olympic Trial cut.<\/p>\n<p>The Women&#8217;s 400m freestyle relay was won by Lakeside with a new meet record of 3:49.55. The team of <strong>Brooke Bauer<\/strong>, <strong>Asia Seidt<\/strong>, <strong>Cameron Brown<\/strong> and <strong>Monica McGrath<\/strong> were under the old meet record of 3:51.98 by Poseidon Swimming. Aquajets was second with a 3:51.10 also under the old meet record. Everyone on Lakeside&#8217;s relay split a 57 except for Seidt who swam a swift 56.98. The Mason Manta Rays team was third at 3:52.19.<\/p>\n<p>The final race of the night did not disappoint. The top four teams were all under the old meet record held by CATS Aquatic Team. NOVA of Virginia won the relay going away with a 3:28.56 with <strong>John Cortright<\/strong> (52.47), <strong>Aaron Schultz<\/strong> (52.20), <strong>Frederick Schubert<\/strong> (52.60) and <strong>Charles Swanson<\/strong> (51.29). They held off a charging Zionsville Swim Club anchored by <strong>Kyle Decoursey<\/strong> (49.92) at 3:29.22. Bernal&#8217;s Gator Swim Club (3:29.89) and Club Wolverine (3:30.16) were also under the meet record as they rounded out the top four.<\/p>\n<p>NOVA of Virginia currently leads the way with 1,050 points followed closely by Lakeside Swim Team at 1,034 points.
