﻿{"id":146593,"date":"2015-07-30T16:50:41","date_gmt":"2015-07-30T23:50:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=146593"},"modified":"2015-07-30T16:50:41","modified_gmt":"2015-07-30T23:50:41","slug":"marlins-of-raleigh-win-distance-relays-on-first-day-of-futures-greensboro-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/marlins-of-raleigh-win-distance-relays-on-first-day-of-futures-greensboro-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Marlins of Raleigh Win Distance Relays on First Day of Futures Greensboro 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina, the debut of the Futures Championships meet began for most of the northeastern region of the United States. <a href=\"http:\/\/usaswimming.org\/DesktopDefault.aspx?TabId=2660&amp;Alias=Rainbow&amp;Lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">This map<\/a>\u00a0on USA Swimming&#8217;s website shows which of the three Futures Championship Meets each LSC may take part in.<\/p>\n<p>The 800 meter freestyle relays along with the women\u2019s 800 meter freestyle and the men\u2019s 1500 meter freestyle made up the first session of the four-day 2015 Futures meet in Greensboro.<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s 800 meter freestyle relay, the <strong>Marlins of Raleigh<\/strong> team of <strong>Chloe Mikles<\/strong>, <strong>Brooke Rubendall<\/strong>, <strong>Sarah<\/strong> <strong>Giamber<\/strong>, and <strong>Emily<\/strong> <strong>Dykstra<\/strong> took home first place with a time of 8:23.62, dropping 8 seconds from their entry time. Second went to <strong>Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics<\/strong>, nearly a second and a half behind the winners with a time of 8:25.04. The <strong>Machine Aquatics<\/strong> relay team rounded out the top three finishing with a time of 8:30.79.<\/p>\n<p>On the men&#8217;s side, results showed familiar team names in the top three. The <strong>Marlins of Raleigh<\/strong> team of <strong>Connor<\/strong> <strong>Blandford<\/strong> (1:57.01), <strong>Tosh Kawaguchi<\/strong> (1:57.85), <strong>Tyler Silver<\/strong> (1:56.08), and <strong>John Cobb<\/strong> (1:54.55) led the field with a time of 7:45.49. Touching second was the relay from <strong>Old Dominion Aquatic Club<\/strong> with a time of 7:51.09, while third went to <strong>Machine Aquatics<\/strong> with a time of 7:52.88.<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s 800 meter freestyle was won easily by sixteen-year-old <strong>Erica Wirth<\/strong> from Berkeley Aquatic Club, finishing with a time of 8:50.63. <strong>Emma Skelley<\/strong> touched second with a time of 8:57.54, with <strong>Bryanna Cameron<\/strong> two seconds behind with a time of 8:59.51.<\/p>\n<p>In the other distance event of the night, the men\u2019s 1500 meter freestyle, <strong>Trevor Leland<\/strong> from Scarlet Aquatics swam to a finishing time of 15:50.99.
