ACCORDING to a report in the Melbourne Herald Sun<\/i>, Leisel Jones and her new teammates under coach Rohan Taylor will make a trip to the United States this summer to compete in a handful of invitational competitions. The article indicates that Jones will race in the United States in July, which likely means an appearance at the Janet Evans Invitational or the Santa Clara Grand Prix, perhaps both.<\/p>\n
The newspaper story suggests that Taylor has decided on this plan of attack because it will allow Jones, the world-record holder in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events, to race against top American competition. Obviously, Taylor is referring to the likes of Tara Kirk, Megan Jendrick and Jessica Hardy, provided they race in those summer events. By opting for the U.S. circuit, Jones will bypass the Mare Nostrum Series.<\/p>\n
