PHOENIX, Arizona, April 30. THE NCAA has finalized the process to revert back to the original interpretation of Bylaw 13.11.1.2 as applied to individual sports. The bylaw typically prohibits any and all competitive contact between prospective student-athletes and collegiate student-athletes.<\/p>\n
The previous interpretation, which will now stand going forward according to NCAA spokesperson Stacey Osburn, is the one the swimming community has followed. As long as there was either no team scoring or college teams were scored separately, high school and college swimmers could compete in the same heat.<\/p>\n
Thankfully, with the organizing efforts of the College Swim Coaches Association of America and the NCAA's willingness to listen the constituents impacted by the now-overturned interpretation that disallowed competition in the same heat, the swimming community can take a deep breath and get back to normal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
