Smith Center Pool and face a top slate of competition in preparation for the 2016 Atlantic 10 Championships, first-year head coach\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gwsports.com\/sports\/w-swim\/mtt\/james_winchester_964510.html\" target=\"_blank\">James Winchester<\/a>\u00a0revealed <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_313372846\"><span class=\"aQJ\">on Monday<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s squad will compete in eight meets, while the women&#8217;s team will compete in nine contests during the regular season.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am excited to announce our schedule for the 2015-16 season,&#8221; said Head Coach Winchester. &#8220;We have a great schedule ahead of us that will challenge our program, including A-10 women&#8217;s champion Richmond among other conference champions on both the men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s sides.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Colonials open the season at local rival Howard on <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_313372847\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Saturday, Oct. 17<\/span><\/span> at the Bison&#8217;s Burr Gym Pool in Washington, DC. The Buff and Blue next travel to Baltimore to take on UMBC on <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_313372848\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Saturday, Oct. 24<\/span><\/span>. The Retrievers claimed the women&#8217;s America East Conference title in 2015, while the men&#8217;s team won the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) crown last season.<\/p>\n<p>GW will host its first meet of the season when Towson visits the Charles E. Smith Center on <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_313372849\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Saturday, Nov. 7<\/span><\/span>. The Tigers&#8217; women&#8217;s team won the CAA title for the third consecutive year in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>From <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_313372850\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Nov. 19-22<\/span><\/span>, the Colonials will compete in the Magnus Cup Invitational hosted by Cleveland State University. Featuring nine programs a year ago, the Magnus Cup is slated to be GW&#8217;s largest event during the regular season.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s squad hosts defending A-10 Champion Richmond on <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_313372851\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Saturday, Dec. 5th<\/span><\/span> at the Charles E. Smith Center before a month-long hiatus from competition that will include a training trip to Fort Myers, Florida.<\/p>\n<p>The Colonials return to campus for a pair of home meets as they welcome William &amp; Mary on <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_313372852\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Saturday, Jan. 9<\/span><\/span> &#8211; who&#8217;s men&#8217;s squad claimed the CAA crown in 2015 &#8211; and crosstown rival Georgetown on <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_313372853\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Saturday, Jan. 16<\/span><\/span> for GW&#8217;s Senior Day meet.<\/p>\n<p>Next up is a Revolutionary Rivalry bout as the Buff and Blue visit A-10 foe George Mason on Monday, Jan. 18 in Fairfax, Virginia. GW will conclude the regular season with a tri-meet in Norfolk, Virginia, featuring host Old Dominion and St. Andrews on <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_313372855\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Saturday, Jan. 23<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The 2016 Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships will take place from <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_313372856\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Feb. 17-20<\/span><\/span> at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifying student-athletes will compete at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships and NCAA Swimming Championships in March.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The level of competition we will face this year and our opportunities at the Magnus Cup and A-10 Championships will give our program a great avenue for growth,&#8221; said Head Coach Winchester. &#8220;I look forward to both of our teams improving within our conference, while also making a run at national level competitions with the NCAA Championships and Olympic Trials in mind.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><i>The above article is a press release submitted to Swimming World.
