Five out of the Scarlet Knights\u2019 first six contests will take place at home, with a number of national-level competitions taking place throughout the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very excited about this year&#8217;s schedule,\u201d Martin said. \u201cIt will give us a lot of different opportunities to compete against some of the best programs in the country and increase the level of competitiveness within our team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>RU finished its inaugural season in the Big Ten Conference with a 9-1 dual record during the 2014-15 slate. The Scarlet Knights also recorded an 11<sup>th<\/sup> place finish at the 2015 Big Ten Women\u2019s Swimming and Diving Championship, setting four program records during the event.<\/p>\n<p>Rutgers begins the season on <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_741033740\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Saturday, Sept. 26<\/span><\/span> when the Scarlet Knights host their annual RU Alumni meet. The RU swimmers will then compete at the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational in Fort Myers, Fla. (<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_741033741\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Oct. 2-3<\/span><\/span>) for their first road event of the season.<\/p>\n<p>After the FGCU Invite, the Scarlet Knights host four straight home events, beginning with the yearly Sonny Werblin Invitational from <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_741033742\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Oct. 16-17<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Wagner visits Piscataway less than a week later for RU\u2019s first dual meet of the season on <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_741033743\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Friday, Oct. 23<\/span><\/span>, followed by a home quad meet with Georgetown, Seton Hall and Villanova from <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_741033744\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Nov. 6-7<\/span><\/span>. The Frank Elm Invite (<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_741033745\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Nov. 20-22<\/span><\/span>) marks the final home event during the stretch for Rutgers.<\/p>\n<p>Rutgers remains in the Garden State for its next event, as the divers travel to Princeton, N.J. to compete in the Princeton Invitational (<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_741033746\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Dec. 4-6<\/span><\/span>). During the same weekend, the swimmers host Boston and Connecticut for a tri-meet.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifying athletes will also get the chance to compete at the U.S. Long Course Nationals in Federal Way, Wash. (<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_741033747\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Dec. 3-5<\/span><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p>The Scarlet Knights face their first Big Ten opponent of the season after the New Year, competing against Iowa along with Kansas and Miami (Fla.) on <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_741033748\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Saturday, Jan. 9<\/span><\/span> in Miami. RU remains on the road the following weekend with a multi-day dual meet against Penn State from <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_741033749\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Jan. 15-16<\/span><\/span> in New Haven, Conn.<\/p>\n<p>A home dual meet on <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_741033750\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Saturday, Jan. 23<\/span><\/span> with New Hampshire concludes the regular season for Rutgers. Last year, RU defeated the Wildcats, 183-117, and claimed 11 of 16 events.<\/p>\n<p>The Big Ten Women\u2019s Swimming &amp; Diving Championships is set for <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_741033751\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Feb. 17-20<\/span><\/span> in Ann Arbor, Mich.<\/p>\n<p>Following the Big Ten Championships, RU remains in Ann Arbor to compete in the Long Course Time Trials on <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_741033752\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Sunday, Feb. 21<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are especially excited to bring in more invitational and national level competitions to our schedule, which is crucial for us as we look to build a stronger program both nationally and within the Big Ten Conference,\u201d Martin said. \u201cWith next year&#8217;s Olympic year approaching, the schedule also gives our athletes more opportunities to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Trials and prepare our athletes for any international competitions down
