ONE of New Zealand&#39;s top female swimmers, Alison Fitch, is heading into retirement. Fitch has been one of the country&#39;s premier freestylers for more than a decade and represented her homeland at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and the 2004 Games in Athens. She missed out on the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.<\/p>\n<p>Fitch has also raced at the 1998 and 2003 World Championships and competed at the Commonwealth Games last year, helping New Zealand to a bronze medal in the 800 freestyle relay.
