{"id":143925,"date":"2015-07-15T19:13:17","date_gmt":"2015-07-16T02:13:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=143925"},"modified":"2015-07-22T09:32:47","modified_gmt":"2015-07-22T16:32:47","slug":"haley-spencer-among-new-record-holders-at-minneapolis-sectionals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/haley-spencer-among-new-record-holders-at-minneapolis-sectionals\/","title":{"rendered":"Haley Spencer Among New Record Holders at Minneapolis Sectionals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Day one of the 2015 Speedo Sectionals at Minneapolis saw a record number of meet and pool records fall.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Haley Spencer\u00a0<\/strong>of Minnesota Aquatics succeeded in lowering her own pool and meet record in the women&#8217;s 200-meter breaststroke of 2:28.62 from 2014 with a final time of 2:28.44. <b>Anna Meinholz\u00a0<\/b>of Wisconsin Aquatics took second with a 2:32.26, while teammate\u00a0<strong>Jennifer Holtzen<\/strong> grabbed third with a 2:33.55.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Katherine Drabot<\/strong>\u00a0of Ozaukee Aquatics claimed a new meet and pool record in the women&#8217;s 100-meter free. Drabot first broke the pool record in prelims when she posted a 55.67 before lowering her time to a 55.07 to claim both the pool and meet record. <strong>Aja Van Hout\u00a0<\/strong>of Wisconsin Aquatics had formerly owned both records setting the meet record of 55.80 in 2014 and the pool record of 55.65 in 2013. Wisconsin Aquatics&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Chase Kinney<\/strong> (56.21) and\u00a0<strong>Ivy Martin<\/strong> (56.22) were second and third respectively.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brett Winfold<\/strong> of Wisconsin Aquatics took first in the men&#8217;s 100-meter free with a swift 49.99, nearing\u00a0<strong>Matt Grever&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>meet record of 49.87 from 2004.Teammate\u00a0<strong>Cannon Clifton<\/strong> claimed second with a 50.02, while\u00a0<strong>Daryl Turner<\/strong> of Minnesota Aquatics finished third with a 50.54.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 200-meter breaststroke went to\u00a0<strong>Jacob Mandli<\/strong> of Wisconsin Aquatics who posted a winning time of 2:16.17.\u00a0<strong>Jae Park<\/strong> of Nasa Wildcat Aquatics turned in a time of 2:1728 for second, and third went to teammate\u00a0<strong>Maciej Olszewski<\/strong> (2:18.01).<\/p>\n<p>In an astounding turn of events the top three finishers in the women&#8217;s 200-meter fly each succeeded in lowering the meet and pool record.\u00a0The pool record of 2:14.39 was formerly owned by <strong>Hannah Saiz<\/strong> and set in 2014, while <strong>Kaia Simmons&#8217;<\/strong> meet record of 2:14.20 had stood since 2007.\u00a0<strong>Dana Grindall <\/strong>of Wisconsin Aquatics\u00a0claimed the new records with a dazzling 2:12.72.\u00a0<strong>Danielle Nack<\/strong> of Mantas Swim Club settled for second with a final time of 2:13.40, while\u00a0<strong>Azra Avdic\u00a0<\/strong>of Nasa Wildcat Aquatics took third with a time of 2:13.42.<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin Aquatics&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Harrison Tran<\/strong>\u00a0out-touched the competition in the men&#8217;s 200-meter fly with a time of 2:03.94. Alligator Aquatics&#8217; <strong>Sam Wilcher<\/strong> was a slim second with a final time of 2:03.95, while Maverick Swim Club&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Alexander Dillmann<\/strong> rounded out the top three with a 2:05.94.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Danielle Valley<\/strong> of Wisconsin Aquatics posted a winning time of 8:48.53, only 1.98 seconds off the 2014 meet and pool record of 8:46.55 set by <strong>Kirsten Jacobson<\/strong> in 2014.\u00a0<strong>Audrey Guyett<\/strong> of St. Charles Swim Club finished second with a time of 8:58.97, while Springfield YMCA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kaitlyn Wheeler<\/strong> posted a final time of 9:01.02 for third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christopher Dawson<\/strong> of Club Hawkeye\u00a0replaced\u00a0<strong>Nicholas Caldwell&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>2014 meet and pool record of 8:18.82 with a sizzling 8:17.85.\u00a0<strong>Nathan Mueller<\/strong> of Wisconsin Aquatics claimed second with a time of 8:24.02, while\u00a0<strong>Jonathon Larson<\/strong> of Edina Swim Club took third with a final time of 8:26.27.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/results\/2015-minneapolis-speedo-sectionals-day-1-day-1\/usa-senior-national\/2015\/July\/15\" target=\"_blank\">2015 Minneapolis Speedo Sectionals, Day 1 &#8211; Results<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Day one of the 2015 Speedo Sectionals at Minneapolis saw a record number of meet and pool records fall.
