The future of American sprinting was on display in the 2014-2015 high school season, as the list of high school All-Americans in the 50 freestyle was highlighted by record-setting performances by Ryan Hoffer<\/strong> and Abbey Weitzeil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Our 11-part NISCA All-American Showcase is highlighting each event on the high school swimming schedule, and Swimming World<\/i> is proud to partner with the National Interscholatic Swim Coaches Association to provide a global spotlight on high school swimming in the United States.<\/p>\n

Hoffer, just a sophomore at Chaparral High School, continues to make major strides in the event, posting a 19.53 at the Arizona Division I high school championships last November. The time was Hoffer\u2019s best in the event, and set a USA Swimming national age group record<\/a>. With two years of high school swimming remaining, we could see Hoffer threaten Caeleb Dressel\u2019s<\/strong> national high school record of 19.29. One month after the Arizona championships, Hoffer swam faster in the 50 free at the USA Swimming junior nationals, winning with a 19.38, so the high school record is definitely in reach.<\/p>\n
