Ella Eastin<\/strong> and Andrew Seliskar<\/strong> closed out their high school careers with exciting swims in the 200 individual medley during the 2014-2015 season. Eastin chipped away at her national independent record, while Seliskar approached one of the most unreacheable swims in history.<\/p>\n

Our 11-part NISCA All-American Showcase is highlighting each event on the high school swimming schedule, and Swimming World<\/i> is proud to partner with the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association to provide a global spotlight on high school swimming in the United States.<\/p>\n

Eastin\u2019s 1:53.90 was the best 200 IM in the nation by nearly four seconds. The Crean Lutheran High School senior did it at the California Interscholastic Federation\u2019s Southern Section Championships, setting a lifetime best<\/a> and inching a bit closer to Dagny Knutson\u2019s<\/strong> overall national record of 1:53.82.<\/p>\n

At the same meet, Kristen Vose<\/strong> of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy posted a 1:56.07 to rank second nationally. Lauren Barber<\/strong> was the only other swimmer in the nation to swim under 1:58 in the 200 IM, as the senior from Wilmington Area High School posted a lifetime best 1:57.76 to rank third in the nation.<\/p>\n

Leading four swimmers in the 1:58 range was West Potomac High School freshman Cassidy Bayer<\/strong> with a 1:58.21. Bayer is known mostly for her butterfly prowess, having broken a national age group record in the 200 butterfly that once belonged to the legendary Mary T. Meagher<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Seliskar posted the second-fastest 200 IM in high school history last February with his astounding 1:43.01<\/a> at the Virginia high school championships. It was the closest anyone has gotten to David Nolan\u2019s<\/strong> overall national record of 1:41.39, and was a lifetime best. He would eclipse that two weeks later with a 1:42.84 at a USA Swimming meet.<\/p>\n

Michael Thomas<\/strong> from Hatboro Horsham High School, who had won the USA Swimming junior national title in December with a 1:45.54, shattered that with a 1:44.50 at the Pennsylvania high school championships two months later to rank second nationally among high school swimmers. Ian Finnerty<\/strong> of Bloomington South High School beat out Saratoga High School\u2019s Xiangfei Xie<\/strong> for the third ranking, 1:45.67 to 1:45.81.<\/p>\n
