Hood Sectionals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This afternoon marked the opening day of the 2015 Speedo Western Section Championship at the Mt. Hood Community College Aquatic Center in Gresham, Oregon.<\/p>\n<p>In the meet\u2019s first event, the women\u2019s 800 meter freestyle, <strong>Amanda Richey<\/strong> touched the wall with a time of 8:54.11 for first. It was a tight race, with <strong>Kira Webster<\/strong> only approximately four tenths behind, claiming second place with a time of 8:54.52. <strong>Matti Harrison<\/strong> was less than two tenths behind Webster, clocking in with a time of 8:54.68 to grab third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jacob Ores<\/strong> sailed smoothly to capture first in the men\u2019s 800 meter freestyle with a time of 8:06.41. <strong>Aaron Apel<\/strong> posted a time of 8:18.55 to claim second, with <strong>Liam Gately<\/strong> swimming to third with a time of 8:21.60.<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s 800 meter freestyle relay, the Scottsdale Aquatic Club\u2019s <strong>Jocelyn Wang<\/strong> (2:08.52), <strong>Victoria Toris<\/strong> (2:06.44), <strong>Shae Nicolaisen<\/strong> (2:05.38), and <strong>Taylor Ruck<\/strong> (2:05.58) raced to victory in a time of 8:25.92. Second place went to the University of Denver Hilltoppers with a time of 8:29.33 while the Phoenix Swim Club took third with a time of 8:34.97.<\/p>\n<p>On the men\u2019s side, the relay was won by the Phoenix Swim Club swimmers <strong>Ryan McCoy<\/strong> (1:52.48), <strong>Angus Hannan<\/strong> (1:54.64), <strong>Jared Norton<\/strong> (1:58.38), and<strong> Luke Williams<\/strong> (1:53.29) with a finishing time of 7:38.79. The University of Denver Hilltoppers snagged second once again with a time of 7:41.46 and the Tuscon Ford Dealers Aquatics came in third with a time of 7:53.13.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"\/results\/2015-mt-hood-speedo-sectionals-day-one-day-1\/usa-senior-national\/2015\/July\/14\" target=\"_blank\">2015 Mt.
