MELBOURNE, Australia, March 26. SECOND-round action came to a close in men's water polo at the FINA World Championships.<\/p>\n
Classification 13-15<\/b>
\nSouth Africa won the first classification match, 9-7, over Japan. Wayne Cowden, Ryan Bell and Duncan Woods led a balanced attack with two goals each for South Africa, while Ken Aoyagi and Yoshinori Shiota also connected twice for Japan.<\/p>\n
China downed New Zealand, 11-8, in the other classification match. Wang Yong and Han Zhidon each posted a hat trick for China, while Lachlan Tijsen and Zoltan Boros led New Zealand with two goals each.<\/p>\n
Second Round<\/b>
\nGermany upended the United States, 6-3, to move on to the quarterfinals. Andreas Schlotterbeck notched two goals to lead Germany, while Adam Wright, Ryan Bailey and Layne Beaubien connected for the U.S.<\/p>\n
Greece edged, Romania, 8-7, to grab a quarterfinal berth. Georgios Afroudakis and Antonios Vlontakis paced Greece with two goals each, while Edward Dina Andrei and Kalman Kadar led Romania with two as well.<\/p>\n
Russia downed Canada, 17-13, to advance with Alexander Eryshov leading with four goals. Sergey Garbuzov and Dmitry Stratan also put together hat tricks with three goals for Russia. Meanwhile, Jean Sayegh led Canada with four goals, while Kevin Graham connected for three.<\/p>\n
