While most U.S. swimmers are competing at the Pan American Games, large sectional meets, or the recent World University Games, Michael Phelps<\/strong> went back to his home pool to compete at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club Midsummer Classic.<\/p>\n

According to a video piece<\/a>\u00a0by WBAL-TV, a popular Baltimore news station, Phelps attended the meet to pay tribute to the Meadowbrook pool, the North Baltimore Aquatic Club and all the memories the Phelps family has made there over the years.<\/p>\n

Phelps swam the 100 meter freestyle, where he went 50.80 in prelims, and a 49.66 in the finals. Regardless of his times, the Phelps family enjoyed a day of appreciation.<\/p>\n

“This morning and this afternoon we were just reminiscing about some of the old memories and some of the great times we’ve had here, either\u00a0me watching my sisters, or me swimming myself. It’s good to have my family and a couple friends here to support tonight,” Phelps said in the piece.<\/p>\n

“It’s very rewarding to watch this all come together, to be able to watch Michael swim his last race here. I feel like its the end of a Phelps legacy here. My grandchildren swim and I’m very proud of that as well, they’re all great little athletes. But [it’s rewarding] to have us all here together, to be able to say thank you to the North Baltimore Aquatic Club,” Debbie Phelps<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n

Phelps will not be competing in the Pan American Games or the World Championships, but his 100 freestyle swim served as a tune-up for the upcoming\u00a0U.S. Summer Nationals Aug. 6-10 in San Antonio.<\/p>\n

This may have been Phelps’ last race in Baltimore, but there is still a lot of\u00a0Phelps swimming to be done leading up to the U.S. Olympic Trials and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.<\/p>\n
