ORLANDO, Florida, March 24. ROCKVILLE Montgomery came up with the combined team title at the NCSA Junior Nationals held in Orlando, Fla., after tallying 636 points. Curl Burke finished second with 500 points, while Tucson Ford took third with 480 points.<\/p>\n
Rockville Montgomery also won the women's team title with 340 points, while Raleigh Swimming (309) and Tucson Ford (308) comprised the rest of the top three. <\/p>\n
In the men's meet, Curl Burke won with 329 points, while Rockville Montgomery (296) and Nova of Virginia (269) took second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n
Melanie Roberts of Raleigh Swimming won the women's highpointer award with 95 points, while Cory Chitwood of Northern KY Clippers earned the men's title with 121.50 points.<\/p>\n
Women's 50 backstroke<\/b>
\n15-year-olds performed well in the event as Jessica Guro of Atlantis Aquatics (25.58), Cara Chuang of Rockville Montgomery (25.98), Stef Wells of Tucson Ford (26.09) and Cindy Tran swimming unattached (26.18) finished 1-2-3-4 in the event.<\/p>\n
Men's 50 backstroke<\/b>
\nJosh Hafkin of Rockville Montgomery touched first in 22.40 to edge Cory Chitwood of Northern KY Clippers (22.55). Tampa Bay Aquatic's Tommy Wyher wound up third in 22.97.<\/p>\n
Women's 1650 freestyle<\/b>
\nJoanna Thomas of GCIT picked up the win in 16:27.41, while Rockville Montgomery's Katura Harvey finished second in 16:33.07. Amanda Smith of the Mason Manta Rays rounded out the top three in 16:34.29.<\/p>\n
Women's 200 IM<\/b>
\nElizabeth Smith of Parkway Swimming erased the meet record with a winning time of 1:58.81. That effort surpassed the 1:59.25 set by Laura Davis in 2002.<\/p>\n
17-year-old Melanie Roberts of Raleigh Swimming took second in 2:00.31, while 15-year-old teammate Sarah Henry finished third in 2:02.31.<\/p>\n
Men's 200 IM<\/b>
\nBrian Wilson of Jersey Gators and Cory Chitwood of Northern KY Clippers tied for the title in 1:49.41, while Team Foxjet's Neal Kennedy took third in 1:50.19.<\/p>\n
Women's 50 freestyle<\/b>
\n17-year-old Shara Stafford of Topeka Swimming touched out 17-year-old Nicole Landisch of Lake Country Swimming, 22.94 to 22.97, for the title. Katherine Raatz of Golden West Swimming finished third in 23.14.<\/p>\n

\nBuddy Turner of Arizona Desert Fox hit the wall in 20.50 for the crown, while 17-year-old Jeff Daniels (20.61) and 17-year-old Adam Powell of the Boys and Girls Club of North Westchester (20.73) placed second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n

\n17-year-old Brent Hitchcock of the Dayton Raiders clocked a meet-record time of 15:17.68. That performance eclipsed the 15:17.88 previously set by Steve Herron in 1985.<\/p>\n
17-year-old Shane Lichtenberg of the Oakland Live Y'ers finished second in 15:18.80, while Carl Jones of Tri-City Channel Swimming took third in 15:21.87.<\/p>\n
Women's 400 medley relay<\/b>
\nRockville Montgomery's team of Cara Chuang (55.57), Colleen Haase (1:03.62), Christine Chuang (56.46) and Katura Harvey (50.60) won the title in 3:46.25.<\/p>\n
