Vollmer won her heat with a 1:00.05 and shaved\u00a02.43 seconds off her entry time of 1:02.48 to claim the second-place seed going into tonight&#8217;s finals. Cal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Farida Osman<\/strong> finished first with a 59.31, while teammate\u00a0<strong>Kelly Naze<\/strong> was third with a 1:00.33.<\/p>\n<p>Cal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Tom Shields<\/strong> was the top finisher in prelims of the men&#8217;s 100-meter fly finishing with a 52.00. Teammate\u00a0<strong>Justin Lynch\u00a0<\/strong>claimed the second-place seed with a 53.59, while Tucson Ford Aquatic&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Masa Kishida\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the top three with a 54.17.<\/p>\n<p>SoCal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emily Eastin<\/strong> finished first overall in prelims of the women&#8217;s 100-meter back with a time of 1:03.08. Stanford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ally Howe<\/strong> was second with a 1:03.32, while\u00a0<strong>Ella Eastin<\/strong>, also of SoCal, claimed third with a 1:03.51.<\/p>\n<p>Cal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ryan Murphy<\/strong> posted a 55.85 in the men&#8217;s 100-meter back to claim the first-place seed. Tucson Ford Aquatic&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matt Grevers\u00a0<\/strong>turned in a 56.01 for the second-place seed, while Trojan Swim Club&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Luca Spinazzola\u00a0<\/strong>finished third with a 56.22.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sarah Haase<\/strong>\u00a0of Stanford leads the women&#8217;s 100-meter breaststroke going into tonight&#8217;s finals with a 1:08.61.\u00a0<strong>Carissa\u00a0<\/strong><b>Metcalf\u00a0<\/b>of Guacho Aquatics claimed the second-place seed with a 1:11.68, while Cal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maija Roses<\/strong>\u00a0took third with a 1:12.07.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brendan McHugh<\/strong> of Greater Philadelphia Aquatics grabbed the first-place seed in the men&#8217;s 100-meter breaststroke with a 1:01.61.\u00a0<strong>Sam Tierney<\/strong>, swimming unattached, turned in a 1:01.84 for a close second, while Coca-Cola&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kosuke Kitajima\u00a0<\/strong>was third with a 1:02.16.<\/p>\n<p>Cal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Camille Cheng\u00a0<\/strong>and Tucson Ford Aquatic&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Margo Geer<\/strong>\u00a0will return to finals tonight with strikingly close seeds. Cheng turned in a 2:02.36 to grab the first-place seed, while Geer posted a 2:02.40 for second. SoCal&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Elise Garcia<\/strong> rounded out the top three with a 2:04.56.<\/p>\n<p>Stanford&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jeff Garnier\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 2:04.78 to claim the first-place seed in the men&#8217;s 200-meter IM.
