Ledecky also swims for Nation&#8217;s Capital, but trains at a different location in Maryland. Byrnes is set to begin her senior year at Oakton High School in Vienna, Va., this fall.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I am so excited to have committed to Stanford University,\u201d Byrnes said. \u201cStanford has a great combination of both academic and swimming excellence. I cannot wait to join my future teammates and coaches.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Byrnes swims for Nation\u2019s Capital Swim Club under the guidance of <strong>John Flanagan<\/strong>, and has made big strides in the past year. She\u2019s on the cusp of breaking 16:00 in the 1650-yard freestyle, posting <a href=http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/megan-byrnes-tom-dolan-invitational\/ target=_blank>a 16:01.83<\/a> last December at the Tom Dolan Invitational. She also will be able to contribute to what will be an unstoppable Stanford distance crew in the 500-yard free, holding a current personal best of 4:43.43 from the Virginia high school championships. Her 200 free best stands at 1:48.61.<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s a major talent in the long course pool as well.
