Invite"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dana Vollmer will be just one of the many names to watch this weekend at the Los Angeles Invitational, as the 100 butterfly Olympic champion will test her return to competition after nearly two years away.<\/p>\n<p>Vollmer announced at the Arena Pro Swim Series in Santa Clara last month that <a href=http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/dana-vollmer-never-did-retire-might-return-to-race-pool\/ target=_blank>she had been training with Teri McKeever and the University of California-Berkeley for a few weeks<\/a>, mostly under the guise of getting fit enough to keep up with her newborn son, Arlen. But with her entry into this weekend\u2019s meet, it appears Vollmer is anxious to test her racing acumen, and she\u2019ll do it against some tough competition.<\/p>\n<p>Vollmer is swimming just the 100 fly, and she\u2019s seeded 23rd. Further up the list of seeds in the 100 fly is  a host of Americans who are going to be tough racers. Kelly Naze, Noelle Tarazona and Hannah Weiss are entered in the meet, but it\u2019s Egyptian Farida Osman who is seeded first.<\/p>\n<p>Vollmer\u2019s last major meet was the 2013 world championships, where she picked up a bronze medal in the 100 fly and gold in the 400 medley relay. She won the 2012 Olympic gold medal in the 100 fly with a 55.98, which stands as the world record.<\/p>\n<p>Several California-based members of Team USA\u2019s world championship team are scheduled to race at the L.A. Invite. Nathan Adrian, Ryan Murphy, Tom Shields and Conor Dwyer are getting in some final racing before heading to the team camp in Croatia later this month.
