This led to some confusion among our readers, as Alexandrov is a Bulgarian native. However, Alexandrov, who has lived in America since he was eight, acquired dual-citizenship in the United States along with his family last September.<\/p>\n
There is some confusion on whether or not the swim will stand as an American record. The record will be applied for by the meet management staff, and it will be up to USA Swimming to decide the issue.<\/p>\n
Either way, this is clearly an administrative issue and should not detract from the incredible swim put forth by Alexandrov.<\/p>\n
