FOLLOWING an NCAA and U.S. Open record leadoff split from Cesar Cielo of 18.69, which erased the previous standard of Auburn's Fred Bousquet set at the same pool two years ago, the Tiger foursome of Cielo, Matt Targett (18.71), Scott Goodrich (18.69) and Bryan Lundquist (18.62) destroyed its previous NCAA and U.S. Open standard with a blazing fast time of 1:14.71. The Tigers previously set the record at 1:15.56 in prelims.

Meanwhile, Stanford's quartet of Ben Wildman-Tobriner (18.87), Jason Dunford (18.97), Alex Coville (19.06) and Matt Crowe (19.07) took second in 1:15.97, while Arizona's team of Albert Subirats (19.11), Nick Nilo (19.00), Adam Ritter (19.09) and Darian Townsend (19.06) placed third in 1:16.26.

The leadoff time by Wildman-Tobriner of 18.87 lowered his American standard of 18.98 set during prelims, making him the only American under 19 twice after wiping out Tom Jager and Anthony Ervin's previous standard of 19.05 three separate times on the day.

The win was Auburn's sixth title in the event in the history of the program.

Click here to hear from Targett and Lundquist following the win.

NCAA Division I Champ.
