﻿{"id":141550,"date":"2015-07-10T18:24:59","date_gmt":"2015-07-11T01:24:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=141550"},"modified":"2015-07-11T08:52:08","modified_gmt":"2015-07-11T15:52:08","slug":"orlando-night-two","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/orlando-night-two\/","title":{"rendered":"Caeleb Dressel Claims Two Wins During Night Two of Orlando Sectionals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/robert-finke-ariel-finke-open-up-orlando-sectionals-with-distance-wins\/\">night one<\/a>&#8216;s distance and relay action, fast swimming continued at the 2015\u00a0Southern Zone South Section Championship Meet in Orlando, Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Bolles&#8217; <strong>Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> raced to two wins during the evening.\u00a0Dressel claimed the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:49.42. Gator Swim Club&#8217;s <strong>Corey Main<\/strong> was just hundredths back in a 1:49.58. His teammate\u00a0<strong>Sebastian Rousseau<\/strong> finished third in a 1:51.08.<\/p>\n<p>Dressel later dropped .35 off his lifetime best to capture the 100 fly title in a 52.96. <strong>David Knight<\/strong> of Club Seminole also bettered his seed time to finish second in a 53.02, just six one hundredths behind Dressel. Knight&#8217;s teammate <strong>Pavel Sankovich<\/strong> finished third with a 53.42.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Megan Moroney<\/strong> from St. Andrew&#8217;s recorded the first women&#8217;s win of the night with a 2:02.07 in the 200 freestyle. <strong>Ksenia Yuskova<\/strong> from Hurricane Aquatics followed closely with a 2:02.70 while <strong>Kendall Dawson<\/strong>, representing Fast Lane Aquatics, swam a 2:03.43 for third.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty eight year old <strong>Justine Bowker<\/strong> from T2 Aquatics touched the wall first in the 100 breaststroke finishing with a 1:09.15. Representing Gator Swim Club<strong>\u00a0Hrafnhildur Luthersdottir<\/strong> swam a 1:10.37 for second while Central Brevard&#8217;s <strong>Danielle Keymont<\/strong> was third in a time of 1:11.63.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 100 breaststroke went to Club Seminole&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jarod Pike<\/strong> in a time of 1:02.5. His teammate, <strong>Jacob Coombs,<\/strong> went a 1:03.91 for third place. <strong>Ilya Evdokima<\/strong> from Coral Springs went a 1:03.66 to finish second.<\/p>\n<p>The top three women in the 50 backstroke all dipped under the 30 second barrier. Scarlet Aquatic&#8217;s <strong>Matea Samardzic<\/strong> lead the way in a 29.42. Swim Florida&#8217;s <strong>Elise Haan<\/strong> was just .11 behind her for second in a 29.53. Golden Panther <strong>Naomi Ruele<\/strong> finished in third with a 29.90.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s event\u00a0<strong>George McGovern<\/strong> from Tampa Bay Aquatics sprinted his way to a 26.90 for first. He was followed by Bolles&#8217; <strong>Dakota Mahaffey<\/strong> who raced to a second place time of 27.14. Swim Fort Lauderdale&#8217;s <strong>Nikita Tretyakov<\/strong>\u00a0rounded out the top three with a 27.39.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Natalie Hinds<\/strong> lead the way in the women&#8217;s 100 butterfly finishing in a 1:00.16 while Trinity Prep Aquatics&#8217; <strong>Claire Maiocco<\/strong> finished second in a 1:00.39. Bowker swam\u00a0a 1:00.77 for her second top three finish\u00a0of the evening.<\/p>\n<p>Olympian <strong>Elizabeth Beisel<\/strong> lead the way in her signature event, the 400 IM, stopping the clock at 4:46.17.\u00a0Fresh off her 50 backstroke win, Samardzic finished second in a 4:50.84. <strong>Jesicca Thielamn<\/strong> from Gator Swim Club finished third in a 4:53.56.<\/p>\n<p>The Gator Swim Club swept the podium in the men&#8217;s 400 IM. Rousseau won the event with a 4:19.89, while teammate <strong>Mark Szaranek<\/strong> was two seconds behind in a 4:21.45 and <strong>Dan Wallace<\/strong> rounded out the trio\u00a0with a 4:27.06.<\/p>\n<p>Friday&#8217;s finals concluded with the timed finals of the 800 freestyle relays.\u00a0The Sarasota YMCA women&#8217;s team of <strong>Ashlee Linn<\/strong>, <strong>Taylor Katz<\/strong>, <strong>Sophie Cattermole<\/strong>, and <strong>Ellen Berdusco<\/strong>\u00a0claimed victory recording a time of 8:22.41. Gator Swim Club finished second in a time of 8:25.45 while Scarlet Aquatics rounded out the top three finishing in a time of 8:29.64.<\/p>\n<p>The Gator Swim Club men claimed a nearly 23 second victory in the 800 freestyle relay as <strong>Nicholas Sweetster<\/strong>, Main, Rousseau and Wallace stopped the clock at 7:21.85. Scarlet Aquatics finished in a distant second with a 7:44.44 while the Sarasota men were third in a 7:46.53.<\/p>\n<p>At the conclusion of night two, Scarlet Aquatics continues to lead the women&#8217;s team standings with 291 points.
