{"id":141396,"date":"2015-07-05T09:49:32","date_gmt":"2015-07-05T16:49:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=141396"},"modified":"2015-07-07T19:31:44","modified_gmt":"2015-07-08T02:31:44","slug":"andreas-vazaios-wins-two-at-golden-bear-invitational","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/andreas-vazaios-wins-two-at-golden-bear-invitational\/","title":{"rendered":"Andreas Vazaios Wins Two at Golden Bear Invitational"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There were a large variety of swimmers posting wins in day two of the Golden Bear Invitational including <strong>Andreas Vazaios<\/strong>, <strong>Aleksandra Gerasimenya<\/strong>, and <strong>Arianna Letrari<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Aleksandra Gerasimenya<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>kicked off the final day of the Golden Bear Invitational with a new meet record of 54.50 in the women&#8217;s 100-meter free.\u00a0<strong>Theodora Drakou<\/strong> took second with a 56.13, while\u00a0<strong>Katarzyna Wik\u00a0<\/strong>was third with a 56.58.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marcin Opalski<\/strong>\u00a0claimed the men&#8217;s 200-meter free with a final time of 1:54.40.\u00a0<strong>Viktar Krasochka\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Borna Jukic<\/strong> battled for second but Krasochka was able to turn on the heat to blast past Jukic in the final 50-meters. Krasochka finished second with a 1:55.08, while Jukic was a 1:55.19.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sztandera Dominika\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 32.06 to claim gold in the women&#8217;s 50-meter breaststroke.\u00a0<strong>Lana Dragojevic\u00a0<\/strong>was second with a 32.89, while\u00a0<strong>Alina Zmushka\u00a0<\/strong>finished close behind with a 32.90.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Panagiotis Samilidis\u00a0<\/strong>turned in a 1:02.41 to win the men&#8217;s 100-meter breaststroke.\u00a0<strong>Lachezar Shumkov\u00a0<\/strong>took second with a 1:02.54, while\u00a0<strong>Gabor Financsek\u00a0<\/strong>rounded out the top three with a 1:02.60.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zeljana Knezevic\u00a0<\/strong>cranked out a 5:02.63 to take first in the women&#8217;s 400-meter IM.\u00a0<strong>Maria Filopoulou<\/strong> turned in a 5:06.90 for second, while\u00a0<strong>Ursa Bezan\u00a0<\/strong>finished third with a 5:11.14.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 100-meter fly went to\u00a0Andreas Vazaios\u00a0who finished with a 53.73.\u00a0<strong>Dinko Jukic\u00a0<\/strong>was second with a final time of 54.78, while\u00a0<strong>Mario Todorovic\u00a0<\/strong>finished third with a 54.63.<\/p>\n<p>Drakou took the women&#8217;s 100-meter back with a winning time of 1:03.10.\u00a0<strong>Lucija Jurkovic-Perisa<\/strong> turned in a 1:04.58 for second, while third went to\u00a0<strong>Ema Sarar\u00a0<\/strong>who finished with a 1:04.89.<\/p>\n<p>Vazaios quickly claimed a second win in the men&#8217;s 50-meter back touching the wall in 26.15 seconds.\u00a0<strong>Balog Gabor\u00a0<\/strong>went a 26.24 for second, and\u00a0<strong>Sasa Gerbec<\/strong> took third with a 26.86.<\/p>\n<p>Arianna Letrari\u00a0dominated the women&#8217;s 200-meter fly with a final time of 2:19.42, finishing 6.54 seconds ahead of the competition.\u00a0<strong>Julija Jesenovec\u00a0<\/strong>claimed second with a time of 2:25.96, while\u00a0<strong>Janina Banse<\/strong> was third with a 2:27.19.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 200-meter back went to Gabor who posted a 2:00.76 for the gold.\u00a0<strong>Teo Kolonic\u00a0<\/strong>finished second with a 2:07.05, while\u00a0<strong>Ivan Gajsek<\/strong>\u00a0took third with a 2:08.91.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Svitlana Khakhlova\u00a0<\/strong>claimed the women&#8217;s 50-meter fly with a final time of 26.92. Gerasimenya was a close second, posting a time of 26.98, while\u00a0<strong>Tess Grossman<\/strong> rounded out the top three with a 28.50.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sven Arnar Saemundsson\u00a0<\/strong>cruised to a first-place finish and a new meet record in the men&#8217;s 1500-meter free.
