Her 100 breaststroke time of 1:09.56 set a new meet record by over a full second. Vasey is the first swimmer to break 1:10 at this meet. But the excitement did not stop there; her split of 32.57 also broke\u00a0the 50 breaststroke meet record, which she will have another chance to break\u00a0tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Max Mannes<\/strong>\u00a0also had a big day, winning the first two events of the competition. Mannes came from behind to claim victory in the 400 freestyle with a time of 4:05.72. Mannes swam past <strong>Pit<\/strong> <strong>Brandenburger<\/strong>, who lead the race through the 300. Brandenburger finished second in 4:10.97<\/p>\n<p>Mannes made it to the wall first again in the 200 backstroke, giving him two wins for the night. His winning time of 2:09.37 placed just ahead of <strong>Tom Donker<\/strong> who finished second in 2:09.45.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monique Olivier<\/strong> swam a 4:17.38 to win the women&#8217;s 400, just one second off her pool\u00a0record. <strong>Isobel Griffiths<\/strong> and <strong>Georgia Darwent<\/strong> battled for second place finishing in 4:20.78 and 4:21.79, respectively.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Charlotte Evans<\/strong> kept the excitement going with a meet record in the women&#8217;s 200 backstroke. Her time of 2:15.58 broke the previous record of 2:16.81 held by national record-holder <strong>Sarah Rolko<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The 200 butterfly events were won by <strong>Fabien Francois<\/strong> (2:11.36) for the men, and Griffiths (2:22.71) for the women. Both athletes dominated their races the whole way.<\/p>\n<p>Donker and Mannes also swam the 50 backstroke on day one, but <strong>Jean-Francois Schneiders<\/strong> took home the gold with a time of 27.00. This was almost a full second off of his pool\u00a0record, but it was enough to hold off Donker who was second (27.36) and Mannes who placed fourth (27.85).<\/p>\n<p>On the women&#8217;s side, <strong>Eliza Duffy<\/strong> overcame a close race to touch first in the 50 backstroke in 30.10 seconds. She was followed by <strong>LouLou Janssen<\/strong> (30.51) and Evans (30.76).<\/p>\n<p>Another pool\u00a0record was barely missed in the men&#8217;s 50 butterfly, as <strong>Julien Henx<\/strong> missed his own record of 24.80 by .09. <strong>Ilse Kraaijeveld<\/strong>\u00a0won the women&#8217;s event in 27.78.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Arjan Knipping<\/strong> swam to a new meet record in the 400 IM with a 4:28.48. He won the race by over 12 seconds. Women&#8217;s 400 IM champion <strong>Niamh Hofland<\/strong> did not have as easy of a victory, as she just out-touched Great Britain&#8217;s Griffiths. Hofland finished in 5:02.27, followed by Griffiths in 5:03.72.<\/p>\n<p>100 breaststroke pool\u00a0record holder <strong>Laurent Carnol<\/strong> won his signature event with a time of 1:01.93. He got past <strong>Christopher Steeples<\/strong> in the second 50 to get the win.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nyls Korstanje<\/strong> out-swam Henx, Schneiders, Brandenburger, Nonnekes and more to get the win the men&#8217;s 100 freestyle.
