A trio of women&#39;s NCAA Division III standards fell during the second day of competition at the championship meet held in Houston, Texas March 8-10.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Kenyon College extended its lead with a top total of 363 points.  Amherst stands second with 250 points, while Calvin is third with 214 points.  Emory (191) and Denison (188) make up the rest of the top five.<\/p>\n<p><b>200 medley relay<\/b><br \/>\nKenyon&#39;s team of Carolyn Barer, Tracy Menzel, Tina Ertel and Elizabeth Carlton won in 1:43.92, while Amherst&#39;s squad of Brittany Sasser, Piper Pettersen, Margaret Ramsey and Meaghan Stern took second in 1:45.83.<\/p>\n<p><b>400 IM<\/b><br \/>\nNazareth&#39;s Emily Lesher set the NCAA DIII record with a time of 4:22.75 to win the race.  Her time eclipsed the 4:23.30 previously set by Kathryn Petrock of Kenyon on March 14, 1997.<\/p>\n<p>Williams&#39; Amanda Nicholson finished second in 4:23.48, while Washington &#038; Jefferson&#39;s Kaitlyn Orstein placed third in 4:24.34.<\/p>\n<p><b>100 butterfly<\/b><br \/>\nMiddlebury&#39;s Marika Ross won in 55.59, while Whitworth&#39;s Samantha Kephart placed just behind in 55.70.  Emory&#39;s Leigh Psaris rounded out the top three in 55.96.<\/p>\n<p><b>200 freestyle<\/b><br \/>\nCalvin&#39;s Becky Weima held off Case Western&#39;s Lauren Preyss in a tight contest with a 1:49.79 clocking against Preyss&#39; 1:49.93.  Amherst&#39;s Meaghan Stern took third in 1:50.32.<\/p>\n<p><b>100 breaststroke<\/b><br \/>\nKenyon&#39;s Tracy Menzel touched first in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.69.  Meanwhile, Johns Hopkins&#39; Allie Foster (1:04.10) and Calvin&#39;s Emily Roberts (1:04.52) took second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n<p><b>100 backstroke<\/b><br \/>\nAmherst&#39;s Brittany Sasser notched the second NCAA DIII record of the night with a 54.72 that lowered her previous standard of 55.20 set on March 10, 2006.<\/p>\n<p>SUNY-New Paltz&#39; Michelle Coombs took second in 56.59, while Washington&#39;s Meredith Nordbrock placed third in 57.17.<\/p>\n<p><b>800 freestyle relay<\/b><br \/>\nAmherst picked up a second straight record as the foursome of Margaret Ramsey, Brittany Sasser, Alex Lee and Meaghan Stern clocked a 7:29.50 leading four teams that eclipsed the previous record of 7:33.38 set by Kenyon on March 12, 2004.<\/p>\n<p>Washington&#39;s Kelly Kono, Meredith Nordbrock, Katie Hodges and Marin Hawk took second in 7:31.71, while Emory&#39;s Ruth Westby, Mary Tripp, Jamie Lawler and Leigh Psaris finished third in 7:32.03.
