IN the second day of competition at the NAIA Championships held in San Antonio, Texas, a trio of meet records fell during a fast championship day.

First, Simon Fraser's Kathryn Rosberg set the women's 500 free record with a time of 4:58.85, before Cal Baptist's Russell Thompson clocked a 19.90 in prelims for the first sub-20 men's 50 free in NAIA history. Additionally, SCAD's Cassie Dixon broke the women's 50 free record with a time of 23.44.

In the team chase, Cal Baptist leads both the men's and women's meet. On the women's side, CBU has 225 points, with Simon Fraser in second with 198 points. SCAD is third with 143 pionts, while Illinois Tech (114) and Asbury (95) close out the top five.

For the men, Cal Baptist amassed 313.5 points, ahead of Lindenwood's second-place tally of 216. Illinois Tech (141), Simon Fraser (122) and SCAD (112) completed the rest of the top five.

Men's One-meter diving
Cal Baptist's Ben Wahlman matched his three-meter hardware with a one-meter version with a top tally of 458.35. Meanwhile, Illinois Tech's Brandon Toro finished second with 449.65 points, while CBU's Jeff Couto took third with 447.70 points as the top three mirrored the three-meter finish from a day ago.

Women's 200 medley relay
Simon Fraser's foursome of Tina Hoang, Kathryn Rosberg, Addie Kolybaba and Jessica Verheyden walked away with the 200 medley relay title in 1:47.37, holding off the California Baptist quartet of Nicole Shipman, Stephanie Jung, Jenelle Furuto and Katelyn Butler, which placed second in 1:47.96.

The Savannah College of Art and Design's team of Julie Glaser, Emily Cardone-Dennis, Rachel Fritts and Cassie Dixon took third in 1:49.85.

Men's 200 medley relay
The Simon Fraser men kept it going when Randall Krall, Sean Nugent, Niels Muntzenburger and Kyle Smerdon hit the wall first in 1:31.92. The team came fairly close to erasing the NAIA record held by Simon Fraser with a 1:31.14 since 2005.

California Baptist's squad of Michael Garispe, Justin Vergara, Jan Tichy and Russell Thompson took second in 1:32.58, while the SCAD's team of Allan Cox, Thomas Gibson, Michael Regnier and Ryan Lindsay turned in a third-place time of 1:32.89.

Women's 500 freestyle
Kathryn Rosberg of Simon Fraser demolished her NAIA record time with a 4:52.33 to cruise to victory in the middle distance event. Rosberg previously held the meet standard with a time of 4:58.54 set in 2005 during prelims.

Meanwhile, Cal Baptist's Krista Chacon finished second in 5:02.87, while teammate Chelsey Songy placed third in 5:08.53.

Men's 500 freestyle
CBU dropped the hammer in the 500 free with four A finalists. Brad Terwilliger won the event in 4:34.87, while teammate Jeff Heinz claimed second in 4:37.50. Michael Budny (4th/4:41.76) and Matt Brown (6th/4:45.31) also grabbed big points for Cal Baptist.

Additionally, Cumberlands' Trevor Lowe rounded out the podium in 4:41.65.

Women's 200 IM
In an exciting finish, Simon Fraser's Courtenay Mulhern had just enough of a lead to touch out SCAD's Rachel Fritts, 2:08.30 to 2:08.33, for the title. Meanwhile, Cal Baptist's Elena Zanone closed out the top three in 2:09.20.

Men's 200 IM
Simon Fraser took another title as Niels Muntzenburger clocked a 1:51.98 to claim the 200 IM crown. Illinois Tech's Ryan Feuerstein wound up in third in 1:54.50, holding off a hard-charging Justin Vergara of Cal Baptist (1:54.91).

Women's 50 freestyle
SCAD's Cassie Dixon turned in the second meet record with a quick time of 23.44 in the women's splash and dash. That effort eclipsed the previous standard of 23.52 set by Sharon Turner of Simon Fraser 16 years ago in 1991.

CBU's Jenelle Furuto picked up second place in 23.58, while Simon Fraser's Tina Hoang finished third in 23.83.

Men's 50 freestyle
The records kept falling as a pair of swimmers surpassed the NAIA record of 20.43 set by Simon Fraser's Graham Duthie in 1997, but Cal Baptist's Russell Thompson ended the day with the overall record after clocking a 19.90 in prelims. His final time of 20.10 earned him the title, while second-place finisher Simon Fraser's Randall Krall clocked a 20.29 in prelims, then a 20.40 in finals.

Krall's teammate Kyle Smerdon rounded out the top three in 20.74.

Women's 800 freestyle relay
The Simon Fraser contingent of Kathryn Rosberg, Suzanne Wuolle, Courtenay Mulhern and Tina Hoang won the distance relay in 7:39.96 with a wire-to-wire triumph. SCAD's Elizabeth Harr, Rachel Fritts, Cassie Dixon and Emily Cardone-Dennis wound up second in 7:46.80, while Cal Baptist's team of Katelyn Butler, Chelsey Songy, Jenelle Furuto and Krista Chacon placed third in 7:48.26.

Men's 800 freestyle relay
In the men's distance relay, CBU's foursome of Jeff Heinz, Alan Ogden, Brad Terwilliger and Russell Thompson hit the wall first in a dominant time of 6:48.53.
