{"id":140487,"date":"2015-06-27T15:28:37","date_gmt":"2015-06-27T22:28:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=140487"},"modified":"2015-06-27T15:55:27","modified_gmt":"2015-06-27T22:55:27","slug":"peter-bernek-boglarka-kapas-win-at-day-one-of-hungary-nationals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/peter-bernek-boglarka-kapas-win-at-day-one-of-hungary-nationals\/","title":{"rendered":"Peter Bernek, Boglarka Kapas Win at Day One of Hungary Nationals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Hungarian Nationals kicked off with some quick preliminary, semi-final and final swims. <strong>Peter Bernek<\/strong> and <strong>Boglarka Kapas\u00a0<\/strong>claimed the first wins of the meet in the 400-meter free.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Evelyn Verraszto\u00a0<\/strong>clocked an impressive 1:00.17 in prelims of the women&#8217;s 100-meter fly.\u00a0<strong>Zsuzsanna Jakabos\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Alys Thomas<\/strong> tied for the second-place seed with a 1:00.29.<\/p>\n<p>Verraszto continued to lead the event in semi-finals with a swift 59.47. Jakabos clocked a 59.76 to claim the second-place seed going into tomorrow&#8217;s finals, while\u00a0<strong>Lilliana Szilegyi<\/strong> moved up to the third-place seed with a 59.98.<\/p>\n<p>Prelims of the men&#8217;s 400-meter free saw\u00a0<strong>Akaram Ahmed<\/strong> leading with a 3:55.86.\u00a0<strong>Samuel Pizzetti<\/strong> clocked a 3:58.36, while\u00a0<strong>Peter Bernek<\/strong> took the third-place seed with a 3:58.74.<\/p>\n<p>In finals it was Bernak who moved up and secured the first-place finish with a 3:48.71, an astonishing 10.03 second drop from his prelims time of 3:58.74. Ahmed finished second with a 3:50.10, while\u00a0<strong>Daniel Dudas<\/strong>\u00a0moved up to finish third with a 3:55.21.<\/p>\n<p>Jakabos was back in the women&#8217;s 200-meter IM clocked a 2:14.70 in prelims.\u00a0<strong>Reka Gyorgy\u00a0<\/strong>took the second-place seed with a 2:17.13, while<strong> Dalma Sebestyen\u00a0<\/strong>finished in 2:19.04 for the third-place seed.<\/p>\n<p>Despite adding .21 seconds from her prelims time, Jakabos was able to hold her first-place seed in semi-finals with a finishing time of 2:14.91.\u00a0<strong>Carlotta Toni<\/strong> moved up to the second-place seed with a 2:15.16, while Gyorgy took third with a 2:15.21.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 50-meter fly saw\u00a0<strong>Mohamed Eissa Omar Ahmed, Laslo Cseh,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Adam Telegdy<\/strong> tying for the first-place seed with a 24.51. The men spread out some in the semi-finals with Cseh moving to the first-place seed with a 23.95.\u00a0<strong>Krisztian Takacs\u00a0<\/strong>moved to the second-place seed with a 24.08, while Ahmed was third with a 24.44.<\/p>\n<p>Prelims of the women&#8217;s 400-meter free saw <b>Erika Musso<\/b> leading with a 4:16.15.\u00a0<strong>Melinda Novoszath\u00a0<\/strong>claimed the second-place seed with a 4:19.52, while\u00a0<strong>Boglarka Kapas<\/strong>\u00a0took third with a 4:20.09.<\/p>\n<p>In finals it was Kapas who dominated finishing in 4:08.89, dropping 11.2 seconds from her prelims time. Musso was second with a final time of 4:10.21, and Novoszath took third with a 4:14.84.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eduoardo\u00a0Giorgetti<\/strong> led the men&#8217;s 100-meter breaststroke prelims with a 1:02.93.\u00a0<strong>Gabor Financsek\u00a0<\/strong>claimed the second-place seed with a 1:03.20.\u00a0<strong>David Horueth<\/strong> finished close behind with a 1:03.66 to secure the third-place seed going into semi-finals.<\/p>\n<p>Giorgetti maintained his lead throughout semi-finals finishing with a time of 1:02.14. Horueth moved up to the second-place seed with a 1:02.68, while Financsek dropped to third with a 1:03.60.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s 400-meter free relay team of\u00a0<strong>Bettina Boszormenyl, Viktoria Kardos, Sara Vereblyl\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Kapas from BVSC Zuglo claimed first with a 3:53.90. Vasas SC finished second with a 3:55.21, while FTC was third with a 3:55.41.<\/p>\n<p>It was the men of Kobanya Sport Club who took first in the men&#8217;s 400-meter free relay. Telegdy,\u00a0<strong>Norbert Stabo, Bence Pulai\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Vince Pulai<\/strong>\u00a0were first with a time of 3:26.58.
