That performance cleared his own time of 1:00.84 from last summer. \u00a0Lithuania&#8217;s<strong> Andrius Sidlauskas<\/strong> placed second in 1:01.42 with Great Britain&#8217;s <strong>Charlie Attwood<\/strong> earning third in 1:01.71.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Maria Astashkina<\/strong> completed a breaststroke sweep with a 1:07.71 in the women&#8217;s 100-meter breast. Italy&#8217;s <strong>Giulia Verona<\/strong> took second in 1:08.61 with Russia&#8217;s <strong>Daria Chikunova<\/strong> taking third in 1:09.02.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s Astashkina fourth gold medal. \u00a0On top of winning the 50, 100 and 200-meter breaststrokes, she also participated in the women&#8217;s 400-meter medley relay victory for Russia.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s<strong> Polina Egorova<\/strong> clinched the women&#8217;s 100-meter back crown in 1:01.19 with compatriot<strong> Mariia Kameneva<\/strong> taking second in 1:01.23. \u00a0France&#8217;s <strong>Pauline Mahieu<\/strong> finished just behind with a third-place effort of 1:01.34.<\/p>\n<p>Egorova doubled up with a 26.82 in the women&#8217;s 50-meter fly. \u00a0Austria&#8217;s <strong>Caroline Pilhatsch<\/strong> finished second in 27.18 with Denmark&#8217;s <strong>Julie Jensen<\/strong> taking third in 27.19.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Nikolay Sokolov<\/strong> picked up the men&#8217;s 400-meter IM title by more than a second with a time of 4:19.44. \u00a0Teammate <strong>Igor Balyberdin<\/strong> claimed silver in 4:20.80 with Poland&#8217;s <strong>Karol Zbutowicz<\/strong> finishing third in 4:22.22.<\/p>\n<p>Great Britain went 1-2 in the men&#8217;s 200-meter free. \u00a0<strong>Duncan Scott<\/strong> won in 1:48.55 with teammate <strong>Cameron Kurle<\/strong> finishing second in 1:48.92. \u00a0Russia&#8217;s <strong>Elisei Stepanov<\/strong> clinched third in 1:49.64.<\/p>\n<p>Germany&#8217;s <strong>Maxine Wolters<\/strong> hit the wall in 2:13.37 to win the women&#8217;s 200-meter IM. \u00a0Italy&#8217;s <strong>Ilaria Cusinato<\/strong> finished second in 2:13.78 with Great Britain&#8217;s<strong> Abbie Wood<\/strong> earning third in 2:14.49.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Daniil Pakhomov<\/strong> captured the men&#8217;s 100-meter fly title in 52.72 with Spain&#8217;s <strong>Alberto Lozano Mateos<\/strong> taking second in 52.78. \u00a0Russia&#8217;s <strong>Daniil Antipov<\/strong> placed third in 53.36.<\/p>\n<p>Israel&#8217;s <strong>Ziv Kalontarov<\/strong> cranked out a 22.16 to win the men&#8217;s 50-meter free finale. \u00a0Italy&#8217;s <strong>Giovanni Izzo<\/strong> claimed silver in 22.51 with Russia&#8217;s <strong>Aleksei Brianskii<\/strong> taking the bronze in 22.69.<\/p>\n<p>Russia captured another gold medal as <strong>Anastasiia Kirpichnikova<\/strong>, <strong>Arina Openysheva<\/strong>, <strong>Olesia Cherniatina<\/strong> and <strong>Irina Krivonogova<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 800-meter free relay in a time of 8:03.45. \u00a0The Netherlands (8:04.65) and Great Britain (8:04.84) placed second and third.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s seventh gold medal of the meet with five coming by way of Russia&#8217;s dominant relays. She won individual gold in the 200 free and 400 free, while taking silver in the 100 free.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s team of <strong>Filipp Shopin<\/strong>, <strong>Anton Chupkov<\/strong>, <strong>Daniil Pakhomov<\/strong> and <strong>Vlad Kozlov<\/strong> demolished the World Junior Record in the men&#8217;s 400-meter medley relay with a time of 3:36.38. \u00a0That&#8217;s faster than the time <strong>Evgeny Rylov<\/strong>, Chupkov, <strong>Aleksandr Sadovnikov<\/strong> and Shopin posted of 3:38.02 last summer for the current World Junior mark.<\/p>\n<p>Great Britain (3:39.01) and Poland (3:39.31) finished second and third.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SEMIFINALS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Israel&#8217;s <strong>Ziv Kalontarov<\/strong> led the way in the men&#8217;s 50-meter free with a 22.61. \u00a0Italy&#8217;s <strong>Giovanni Izzo<\/strong> qualified second in 22.73 with Russia&#8217;s <strong>Aleksei Brianskii<\/strong> clocking a third-seeded 22.76.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s <strong>Polina Egorova<\/strong> paced the women&#8217;s 50-meter fly semis in 27.15 with Denmark&#8217;s <strong>Julie Jensen<\/strong> touching second in 27.42.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"\/results\/2015-european-games-live-results\/international-elite\/2015\/June\/23\" target=\"_blank\">2015 European Games, Live Results &#8211; Results<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Russia&#8217;s Anton Chupkov lowered his World Junior Record in the men&#8217;s 100-meter breast at the 2015 European Games.
