Click on playlist drop down menu to view all the races.<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jq7V4RPUIOo?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent&#038;listType=playlist&#038;list=PLrXo-jJXpl8dHyftehb0-OfPLFmHsQBP8\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p><strong>Original report:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Great Britain\u2019s <strong>Luke Greenbank\u00a0<\/strong>unleashed a World Junior Record in the men\u2019s 200-meter back finals at the 2015 European Games in Baku.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FINALS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Great Britain\u2019s <strong>Luke Greenbank<\/strong> crushed the field in the men\u2019s 200-meter back with a top time of 1:56.89. \u00a0That swim vaulted him to eighth in the world rankings, and broke the World Junior Record of 1:56.94 set by China\u2019s <strong>Li Guangyuan<\/strong> last summer.<\/p>\n<p>Belarus\u2019 <strong>Mikita Tsmyh<\/strong> placed second in 1:59.46 with Russia\u2019s <strong>Roman Larin<\/strong> earning bronze in 1:59.60.<\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s <strong>Arina Openysheva<\/strong> won yet another gold medal as she clocked a 1:58.22 in the women\u2019s 200-meter free. \u00a0That swim put her ahead of fellow meet MVP <strong>Marrit Steenbergen<\/strong> of The Netherlands, who finished second in 1:58.99. Germany\u2019s <strong>Leonie Kullmann<\/strong> snared bronze in 1:59.77.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s Openysheva fifth gold medal with wins in the women\u2019s\u00a0400 free relay, 400 free, mixed 400 free relay, women\u2019s 400 medley relay and 200 free. \u00a0She also took silver behind Steenbergen in the 100 free.<\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s <strong>Polina Egorova<\/strong> powered her way to gold in the women\u2019s 100-meter fly with a 59.36. \u00a0Great Britain\u2019s <strong>Amelia Clynes<\/strong> claimed silver in 1:00.12, while Greece\u2019s <strong>Ilektra Varvara Lebl<\/strong> and Great Britain\u2019s<strong> Laura Stephens<\/strong> shared bronze with 1:00.54s.<\/p>\n<p>France\u2019s <strong>Nicolas D\u2019Oriano<\/strong> raced his way under 8:00 to win the men\u2019s 800-meter free in 7:59.87. \u00a0Spain\u2019s <strong>Marcos Rodriguez Mesa<\/strong> placed second in 8:01.73 with Germany\u2019s <strong>Henning Muehlleitner<\/strong>taking third in 8:04.33.<\/p>\n<p>In a bit of a surprise, considering just how much <strong>Marrit Steenbergen<\/strong> of The Netherlands dominated the 100-meter free, Russia\u2019s <strong>Mariia Kameneva<\/strong> touched out Steenbergen, 25.23 to 25.27, for the women\u2019s 50-meter free title. \u00a0Denmark\u2019s <strong>Julie Jensen<\/strong> placed third in 25.41.<\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s <strong>Filipp Shopin<\/strong> nipped Germany\u2019s <strong>Marek Ulrich<\/strong>, 25.40 to 25.44, in the men\u2019s 50-meter back finale. \u00a0Ukraine\u2019s <strong>Andrii Khloptsov<\/strong> rounded out the podium with a third-place time of 25.71.<\/p>\n<p>The foursome of <strong>Mariia Kameneva<\/strong>, <strong>Anton Chupkov<\/strong>, <strong>Daniil Pakhomov<\/strong> and <strong>Arina Openysheva<\/strong>snagged the gold in the mixed 400-meter medley relay with a time of 3:49.53. \u00a0That\u2019s Openysheva\u2019s sixth gold medal of the meet now. \u00a0Great Britain (3:52.03) and Germany (3:54.27)\u00a0took silver and bronze.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SEMIFINALS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s <strong>Mariia Kameneva<\/strong> hit the wall in 25.44 to top the women\u2019s 50-meter free, while 100 free sprint queen<strong> Marrit Steenbergen<\/strong> of The Netherlands qualified second in 25.56.<\/p>\n<p>Kameneva returned in the next women\u2019s event to top the 100-meter back semis in 1:01.57. Teammate <strong>Polina Egorova<\/strong> qualified second in 1:01.97.<\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s <strong>Filipp Shopin<\/strong> took the top seed in the men\u2019s 50-meter back with a time of 25.67. \u00a0Germany\u2019s<strong>Marek Ulrich<\/strong> posted a second-seeded 25.73.<\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s <strong>Daniil Pakhomov<\/strong> turned in a 52.13 to lead the way in the men\u2019s 100-meter fly semis. \u00a0Spain\u2019s <strong>Alberto Lozano Mateos<\/strong> took the second seed in 53.23.<\/p>\n<p>Italy\u2019s <strong>Ilaria Cusinato<\/strong> chased down the top seed in the women\u2019s 200-meter IM with a time of 2:14.35. Germany\u2019s <strong>Julia Mrozinksi<\/strong> put up a second-seeded time of 2:15.02.<\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s <strong>Elisei Stepanov<\/strong> claimed the top seed in the men\u2019s 200-meter free in 1:49.43 with Great Britain\u2019s <strong>Cameron Kurle<\/strong> qualifying a close second in 1:49.50. \u00a0Russia\u2019s <strong>Nikolay Snegirev<\/strong> snared the third seed in 1:49.57 as the other 1:49 of semis.<\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s <strong>Anton Chupkov<\/strong> clipped Lithuania\u2019s <strong>Andrius Sidlauskas<\/strong>, 1:00.95 to 1:00.99, for the men\u2019s 100-meter breast top seed.<\/p>\n<p>Russia\u2019s <strong>Maria Astashkina<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/race-video-watch-maria-astashkina-set-world-junior-record-in-200-breast\/\" target=\"_blank\">who set a World Junior Record in the 200-meter breast yesterday<\/a>, led the way in the 100-meter breast with a 1:07.88 this evening.
